CURRENCY

Money in any form is and has always been one of the great moving forces of the world. Having it can make you but at the same time not havin it can break you. In {Date} the official {NAME} currency that all transactions had to be in was made official.

WIZARDING CURRENCY
In the past the Maori who occupied the land did not have an official form of currency and instead survived off of a barter system with each other and the other tribes. As the English moved in from England they of course came with their own form of currency and were used to using it over bartering. The same can be said of the Irish who arrived a while later.

Many of the international communities changed from a barter system to a currency one much sooner than the {Name}. They persisted with their own form until the late 1800’s(?) when the English crown started to take over the continent. By 1860 almost all of the Maori land had been seized by the English crown and sold to English middle to upper class.

In {DATE} the first {Government} approved form of currency was made; the Hiriwa (Silver) and later for larger transactions the Guld (Gold) was approved. Fun Fact: The Hiriwa was unpopular by the English for its Maori name as the first form of currency.
