The hardcore/pro gamer "git gud, scrub" mentality IMO has gone a bit too far at times. Like, I'm referring to those who take this mindset to the degree that they heckle people who stream their gaming on anything less than the hardest difficulty, or cast dirty looks at anyone who confesses that they use cheats, hacks or mods designed to make the game easier. (Now, in the case of multiplayer/online games I can get why that would be something that deserves to be called out, but for single-player, offline games? How people choose to have fun is their own damn business)

Consider this the confessions of a (from the perspective of these hardcore gamers) "filthy casual".

My favourite thing about FFIV is that it has these secret, "off-map" areas that are just literal darkness you wander through hoping to find another room with treasure or something, yeah?

So you'll be bumbling around, get into a random encounter, and come back to a totally black screen with just your character standing there prompting the usual "??? Did this shit break, or?" only to remember that no, you're just an idiot. Keeping going west
