here's to our very first bump here on pixel perfect!
what is zugzwang? zugzwang is an illustrated panfandom rp with a twist: your character has been selected to play the chessmaster's game, and they must pay an entry fee-- your character must give up either their abilities or memories. they can earn them back throughout the game... or not. your choice!
we have several exciting events running for our grand opening! a referral promotion to earn points, a mini-event where your characters can investigate supernatural and spooky phenomena occurring throughout sylin city, and our main event: the first trial in the chessmaster's game, where your character will face their greatest fears head on.

bump! our referral promotions as well as our main and mini events are still on-going until november 30th. during our grand opening promotions your first three characters bypass our post requirement! wave one of our main event has been sent out-- characters face the chessmaster's first trial and combat their greatest fears in a test of strength or wit. there's still time to sign up for wave two!
i cannot thank everyone enough who has decided to check us out-- we have 74 active members in our server, and 61 accepted characters, all in our first month! there's more on the horizon in store for the bizarre world of sylin city, come on in, stop by and say hello! ♟️

bump! as stated previously, our referral promotions as well as our main and mini events are still on-going until november 30th. get some extra poitns for participating in them to buy back your character's memories or abilities! during our grand opening promotions your first three characters bypass our post requirement! we have now sent out wave two of our main event challenges, but there's still time to be apart of our final wave three.
we have over 35 different fandoms represented on our board! no matter how obscure or out there your series is, we have a great member base that's willing to learn and play along with your favorites! stop by and say hello! ♟️

our first event and grand opening promotions have concluded. thank you to everyone who took part in both our main and mini event! we want to wish everyone happy holidays, and good luck on finals-- and if you have already taken them, time to pat yourself on the back and relax!

♟️♟️♟️ the winter masquerade ❄️ is alive and HAPPENING. the punch bowl has of course been tampered with, the AV room has been broken into, and everyone is gettin' jiggy with it on the dance floor... which is perhaps not the type of bonding parliament had anticipated, but it is what it is, and they wouldn't have it any other way!
recently the mysterious chesspieces have arrived on the board for the very first time... did you know ZUGZWANG has an interactive, overarching plot? participation is not mandatory, but so far our members have enjoyed theorycrafting about the chessmaster's game and all that it entails. check out the conspiracy theory theorycrafting flow chart-- created by our members-- here!

♟️♟️♟️ MOVEMENT 02: THE MAZE has begun! the chesspieces have made their move and have placed the players into teams for their own personal maze challenges! who will escape? who will receive the prize awaiting for them at the end: a chance to talk to the gods of the chessboard themselves? click here to find out more! we have backup sign-ups for the event should our teams need more help, and we have another additional ooc event to come!

 ♟️♟️♟️ ZUGZWANG is starting off the month of may with an update to our rules! we at ZZ have always taken great care and pride in making sure that the site is safe for all people of all walks of life, especially to those in our LGBT+ community, and we have decided to extend that safespace to minors, as we were all young writers once upon a time.
as ZZ does have jcink premium and does allow for more mature content and originally restricted access to the entire board regardless of content rating, we are instead now heavily restricting access to that content specifically so that we may allow those between the ages of 16+ to join our site by utilizing the [restricted] BBCode tags to block content of individual posts. in enacting this change, minors' safety is our top priority. you may read more about this change here, and we want to extend an invite to any younger members who wish to see if ZZ is for them! hope to see you there!
MOVEMENT 02: THE MAZE is still ongoing! our backups sign up sheet still has lots of availability, and we have more planned for you over the summer. now, whether the players or the chesspieces consider the plans to be fun... you'll just have to wait and see!

 (art by our lovely member katie, depicting kairi of team justice cabal for our maze event!)♟️♟️♟️ ZUGZWANG is a panfandom RP where your characters are given a choice to enter The Chessmaster's game: do they give up their abilities and keep their memories of their loved ones, or do they retain their power but give up the memories they hold dear? We have a progression system where you earn points to gain back your characters' memories or abilities, allow casts to be from across different canon points, and allow original characters with a site shop purchase!
MOVEMENT 02: THE MAZE is still ongoing! our backups sign up sheet still has lots of availability for teams who do not have a full set of four or to fill spaces for those who drop out. our art above is drawn by our member katie depicting part of the event for team justice cabal, which you can read about here!
