This is an extended/joint wanted ad, spawned from this ad, being requested by both myself and another member on-site, Kimka, posted with permission! Characters within this ad will have close ties to either my character, James (Evelyn O'Connell spirit from The Mummy (1999) and/or Kimka's character Lachlan (James Gatsby spirit from The Great Gatsby).



the biggest piece of the puzzle we will call henry! he is a businessman; shady, confident, wealthy, and hates to be told no. childhood friends with james thanks to their mother's friendship; thinks they belong together, in love with her since childhood, and willing to do anything to win her over. he's garbage at real love (as is james, to be fair), has been awful to all of james' ex boyfriends in some valiant/desperate attempt to keep her on his side, and it works. they are good friends and she trusts him implicitly and tends to overlook henry's shadier happenings because he doesn't ask questions. perhaps he also helps fund her lifestyle of both art and booze. she does not return the feeling of love, but that isn't to say they haven't had a fling or kissed in the past.

he is the son of wealthy parents: a father who didn't have time for his children and a mother caught up in her own life. mother's early life was in ballet, her connection/source of close friendship with james' mother, and went on to take over for her husband's monopoly on the horse/carriage business after he passed. met lachlan in his journey to make his life better and make something of himself, befriending many wealthy, friendly older women. she left her inheritance to lachlan instead of henry when she died under the reason of lachlan being 'more of a son to her than her own' sparking drama/resentment/hatred between the two men. (who can either have known one another prior or not.) this hatred has had years to brew as lachlan climbs through his new career and henry stews.

henry is more than welcome to have many, many layers to him! this is simply the direction we're aiming, but he isn't black and white evil and his mother can have been wrong about him being a useless son/not worthy of the family business (perhaps she was resentful to him wanting to forge his own path), he can care about james more than mentioned above; don't feel like you can't still mold this man into a character you're comfortable playing outside of the guidelines. we want him to be YOUR character as much as we want him to be a part of the story.

a plot point to kick off: lachlan has recently commissioned a new building for his business, his magnum opus, pride and joy. henry loathes this man coming in and taking money from his mother, his family, to fund his crazy business venture (despite henry not wanting/needing his families money and making his money elsewhere) and either plans to set the building on fire himself or hire someone to do it. confides this in james- "there was an incident at lachlan's business. the newest building no longer exists." -wanting her to be impressed with his checkmate, perhaps knowing how close she and lachlan are (see previous ad liked above if interested in understanding james/lachlan's relationship), paying her off with hush-money to purchase herself a new studio knowing how dirty she's also willing to play if it'll benefit her.

we'll call this character nick! he is lachlan's best friend, closest confidant, and the only person in lachlan's life who has ever been on his side regardless if he has money or not. nick is level-headed and logical, if not occasionally obtuse to the world lachlan has worked himself into, wanting to be there for his friend, but also fearing the dark world of money politics. suffice to say nick was the one who cautioned lachlan about trusting james when the girl came into the scene, being the reasonable friend with the 'something's off about this one', 'she's no good', 'she's bad news' warnings.

nick is a gay man and in a very loving relationship with john (see below), the status of that relationship is up to you! the excess of this role is much more open and up for interpretation! please harass contact kimka to work out further details if you'd like!

we'll call this character john! he is in a close, serious, and loving relationship with nick (the status up to you and whomever plays nick). suspicious of lachlan despite his friendship with nick (a feeling that's reciprocated), for a number of reasons, including how easily lachlan seems to navigate through the world of money and acquire all that he has in such a short time. the men could be an amazing team if they would work together, as they are both very similar in personality (possibly why nick is friends/in love with each of them).

close enough to james to make nick frustrated; james is capable of bringing john out of his shell and having fun and he is often the only one who will really entertain her frivolous ideas where the other two may not, willing to get drunk with her. the excess of this role is much more open and up for interpretation, he's definitely much more multi-faceted than what is offered here!
