when ppl write their posts in proper case
I DONT KNOW WHY THIS IS A PET PEEVE it’s so dumb and stupid. idk if it’s even really called a pet peeve tho? hm, maybe more like just a thing i’m Not Used To Seeing.
the funny thing is that it’s the opposite case for fan fiction - it always catches me off guard when ppl write in lowercase for fics
prolly a thing i’m just Not Used To

Staff Note: As long as none of these statements are directly rude, inflammatory, or made to target/demean/upset people, I see no reason this thread isn't fine. Just keep super hot takes to your own void and not here. End staff note.
I don't think I have too many peeves when it comes to the writing part of the rp, except, when I can't read posts (Either text is too tiny or it's all lowercase for me cause I'm blind and can't read periods in some fonts) or no one reads my posts. That and splicing posts - it's just weird to me. It's a collaborative writing effort so I want to write with people and that involves communication. Communication is mucho needed.
As for rp as a whole, I do not like the idea of IC = OOC, or that if you disagree with one thing that someone does personally we must now yeet them into a volcano and they should be shunned for life from whatever. We can agree to disagree, lol.

What is post splicing?
My most persistent pet peeves:
- really tiny or low contrast text styling
- when people pester people for replies, or give wink-wink-nudge-nudge reminders even as a joke. Unless someone explicitly asks if they still owe one, I operate under the assumption that they already know and already feel pressure for making partners wait. I know I do.

Probably the most annoying thing is when I’m hyped to write, but for my writing partner, it’s just not a priority and other threads are more fun.
It can’t be helped, of course, but it still sucks!
Since it’s hard for me to process all lower-case posts I never roleplay with people who’ve picked up that habit. Aesthetics getting in the way of readability is no bueño to me.

when people actively seem to go out of their way to ignore/go against your character’s settings. maybe u are playing a character who’s like, the supreme overlord of the universe’s double agent thats super good at lying, and yet u have this one guy who Automatically Knows whenever ur character is lying/that his outside persona is a front for no reason other than “oh his vibes are off”. it ticks me off whenever i see it, but i haven’t seen it recently so hopefully its not a thing anymore

when people talk about wanting to thread or plot but when you go and talk to them about something the response goes:
me: here's an idea [insert few sentence ideas of a thread or plot] them: :0nice! them: :)want to start the thread?
or when you ask questions about their character, their opinion on the thread / plot and they're like :0no sounds good with no substance or back and forth whatsoever to evolve the idea
pls just give me something to work with pls h elp me

Repeatedly pestering for replies is such a big no-no that it's a kick-able offense on the site I run, lmao. So THAT is my biggest peeve.
Outside of that... maybe over-plotting? (Which I can totally understand just happens sometimes; it's super fun to gush about a thread with a partner and then OOP, we got carried away now we've both spoiled the end.) I lose a lot of drive for a thread if the majority of the plot is spelled out. I don't know; I guess the element of surprise is really what keeps me going most of the time! I love throwing in (reasonable) curveballs when my partner isn't expecting it.

people that gush about a plot interest and seem uber excited for your character and their character to meet, and even plan a whole thread with you, and then just... drop off the face of the Earth?
or people that take a major position/canon role, and never post. like bro.

People who try and guilt trip me into playing my character as they were not intended to be played. I am pretty immune to guilt-tripping, but gosh, I still sit there rolling my eyes and sighing out a "Really?" I made my character to play my character. x.x So it makes me feel extremely awkward to try and play it off like "Sorry my character has x trait/would react x way because of x history point."

self-peeve for the fact that my brain is p consistently behind the current rp trend by at least a month, if not three, because it means that by the time i get around to making eyes at a specific site or even just a general setting/fandom, it's already dead in the water and i'm just sol for scratching that particular rp itch

I've got one that I thankfully don't come across too often: someone joining or signing up for a thread, and only serving to negatively derail the purpose of the thread.
Alright, maybe I'm looking at this one from the wrong perspective, but I don't think so. I see roleplaying as collaborative story building with a good degree of improv — though the latter could vary wildly depending on how two parties set up an event. As such, I think that if I post a thread idea as 'Character X is walking around with a suspicious bag! It contains fireworks, and she's going to set them off to burn inventory of a shop printing art from a rival artist.' and a player joins with character Y only to stop my character from doing that, because they somehow know what's in the bag and what she's planning...
Maybe it's the metagame element on that scenario that fucks with me so hard. I mean, I've been known to join threads and derail them. Though every time I do it I'm attempting to inject excitement into the thread by introducing an unexpected wacky, or zany thing. I never just join a thread, and only serve to ruin the main concept and leave without doing anything else. Always check with OP beforehand too.
Am I being a hypocrite on this? Ugh.

I think my biggest pet peeve is feeling like my writing partner is trying to one-up me as far as character suffering? Or people who always have to steer the conversation back to THEIR character? I'm a magnet for people like this I guess because I'm bad at verbalizing, but I hate that when I start to talk about my character, how they are, their backstory, just anything...The response I get is either for the other person to just blatantly make sure that their character has suffered ten times more trauma(mind you I don't just add traumatic shit for the hell of it, it ALWAYS has a purpose), and it's always so clearly just for the sake of making it so my character is always the one comforting or coddling their character...Like damn I love writing hurt/comfort but I like to be the comforted party sometimes?
Likewise I can never talk about my character without the other person just unceremoniously shutting me down to talk about their character? I just want to plot man but everyone seems hellbent on convincing me that my characters don't matter AT ALL. It really sucks.
I guess another one is jumping into a Discord for a site and making an effort to talk but getting literally ignored? Again, nothing makes me feel less wanted in a space.

the eternal struggle of wanting a character with a fleshed out backstory that involves multiple other characters that all have meaningful relationships vs remembering exactly how difficult it is to get want ads filled and keep them filled long-term
