name of site: Paradise Lost

site plot:
It started in Galar. When Eternatus was awakened, power spots began fluctuating wildly and appearing in far greater numbers. Wild Pokemon began to Dynamax, rampaging through the countryside. Awakened by heroes embodying the sword and shield, Zacian and Zamazenta fought valiantly in an effort to stop Eternatus.

They failed.

January 23, 2020 would go down in history as the Darkest Day, but it was only the beginning. Eternatus's influence spread over the entire globe, causing power spots to appear where there had never been any before. The gigantic Pokemon that resulted were frenzied, and between their sheer size, numbers, and the power of their moves, cities were laid to waste. Countless lives were lost. Society lay in ruins.

Finally, after two weeks of chaos, Eternatus expended its energy. It went into a long slumber, if rumors are to be believed, and the power spots faded from existence. The destruction was over, but the damage was done. Humanity is left to rebuild, ever living in the shadow of fear that one day Eternatus will be awakened once again.

Welcome to Paradise City, a former resort and port city on the coast of the Halcyon region. In the wake of the apocalyptic Darkest Day, survivors have gathered here in an effort to rebuild some semblance of the life they once knew. While much of the outer part of the city lies in ruins, the resort itself and some surrounding area managed to survive.

Paradise is proving something of a haven for refugees. This is primarily thanks to the Arcadian Alliance, a group once known for running a prominent smuggling ring and other crimes in the port. When the smoke cleared from the attacks, they rose out of the shadows to offer survivors food, shelter, and various amenities. In the months that followed, the Alliance quickly transitioned to running the city outright. They now own the resort hotel, where most citizens are currently living; the only surviving ships, used for limited trading with other regions; and most major locations within the city. They also fund the Medic's Guild and Guardian's Guild, two groups vital to the survival of the city.

There are those, however, who feel the Arcadian Alliance has overextended its power. With full monopolies on the majority of supplies, it's easy to control people. Strict curfews are enforced at night, and hotel living doesn't make for great privacy. Intimidation tactics using powerful Pokemon are sometimes used to silence and discourage dissenters. Rumor has it their 'trading' may even still involve less than moral methods, such as pirating, but it's hard to say for sure. Whatever the case, it's not like people have much choice. At this point, it would be awfully difficult to get out from under the Alliance's thumb...

Whether you're a long-time citizen of Paradise or a refugee coming in from the countryside, it's up to you to help rebuild Paradise, and decide the shape of its future. Will you aim to support or move away from the Alliance? What should the city focus on rebuilding next? And what Pokemon will join you along the way?

To keep the forum clean and so people know that all threads in certain areas are current and that the OP is likely to still have interest, we archive threads that haven't gotten posts for 2 weeks. This thread is being archived for that reason. If you would like this thread reopened, contact a staff member.
