i get super possessive over certain fcs. i won't attack people for using an fc i consider 'mine', but i will be salty if i see one of 'my' fcs being used anywhere. i'll probably also strongly dislike the character that's using the fc, because to me, that fc is my character, and seeing you use their fc is like - stop??? you're tainting my child?? [flails into the void]
i just get attached super easily tbh. i always bring old characters to new sites because i love those characters a lot, and they always have an fc that's just perfect for them, so i'll just be like Yikes when it's taken.

There are some friend groups I know where like... one of the people will use a FC on one site and the other will use the same FC on another site despite the fact they're both on both sites... and I'm over here like... how can you do that??? ... I need to curl up on the bathroom floor for a hot minute when I see a stranger using a FC that I'm particularly attached to.
My friends generally know this about me, though, since I'm vocal about how I'm uncomfortable with it; if they were in my position, I'd want them to tell me when something would make them uncomfortable, even if was dumb/illogical/whatever... (I'm also equally as vocal about the fact that them taking the FC isn't "wrong" in any way and they are absolutely allowed to use it despite my strange possessiveness and that I'll get over it... Eventually™)
But like... Does anyone else ever think it's rude to use the same FC a friend has, who already associates the the character to that face? Or am I just insanely possessive of dumb things? |

This is absolutely a dumb thing to be possessive about; that said, I can relate. Just yesterday I was stalking character apps on a site and noticed one of my go-to FCs had been taken. I tossed my hands up and shouted FUCK!. I get so set on FCs I sometimes don't even want to go with the same character concept anymore if they're taken. As for if taking FCs is rude, well, I guess if you've been talking to a person at length about how you intend on using it and they suddenly take it, that's lame and weird, and maybe a bit passive-aggressive? But I can't blame anyone else for getting the jump on a FC first. It's not like I own my favorites. |

omg i feel this so MUCH. it's unlikely that i specifically would dislike a character strongly depending on how they're being played but i definitely feel when the anger is strong as you are forced to watch a certain fc that you love, are used to, and that is just somehow "yours" being taken by someone else. it's like watching ice cream fall to the ground. i definitely only bring old characters onto new sites if their plots were never given a real chance. it's so frustating when i have something good but it's ends up turning into nothing.

i'll admit i wasn't gonna post anywhere at all let alone in this thread, and just go around liking everything i found reliable bc im a weenie n not rly in the game atm but,,, i felt this mood far too much. LOL. like, i have been in an rp rut for ageees and actually dont have anywhere im currently rping bc im fussy af and my motivation is just so fickle but the amount of times i've written a reply *completely* and utterly around wanting to include a certain word in my post is ridiculous. brain suddenly thinks of cool word we haven't used in a while??? "what damn posts am i owing i wanna write this into it."
a lot of my obsession with this is a fear of not seeming smart in front of other people. i find it difficult to not compare my writing that of another person who i think is better at it. i also feel that if i don't include these over the top, scholarly words of wisdom that i'll be seen as dumb, basically. it's probably completely irrational but sometimes i get stuck in that mindset until i'm editing every single one of my posts trying to make it sound nicer.

GOING BACK TO OLD STYLES OF RP— I miss not having to deal with plots or shippers. I miss being able to just ask for threads, and people who also need some new ones step up and we thread without a specific direction in mind. Some of my favorite threads/character relationships ended up completely unplanned. I never thought about it being "the old style of RP," but I totally do this still. Even at my own site, I don't have a plotter. XD I just ask people for threads and pitch ideas. I don't think most sites require shippers/plotters, so you could probably do the same? |

ngl this is me too. Especially with FCs from a certain series I've fallen into again. Thankfully, on the site I'm on so far, nobody's taken my 'main' FC so I took the chance and permanently brought that character over who has that particular FC. I also branched out to other FCs within that particular series, and for some reason I noticed both of them are scarf-wearing idiots. I just love Ivan and 'Laurence' okay. Laurence being a fan-assigned name for the other scarf-wearing nation personification I'm using atm |

i confess that if i feel like a character just isn't really wanted around on a site (or if i'm not really wanted around on a site), it's really hard for me to summon up the will to keep going with things. it just drains me emotionally and mentally.
like yeah, i recognize that to a certain extent, rp is what you make it and how much you involve yourself but. sometimes it's just really hard for me to feel the want to write if i feel like no one really wants me to write, if that makes sense? |

I forget that I am an adult and have an adult life which includes a 50 hour work week, a husband and two cats as well as apartment maintenance and doing overall "adult" things. So when I put myself into ten different threads that I am certain I can handle - I am soon crying into my pillow because I cannot handle it D: lol

When that happens - this is what you do. you admit defeat and cull some of the threads out. I tend to bite off more than I can chew. Do a cull! lol See which threads can be closed off and finished in a post or two. That is what I do when I am over-threaded and pulled too thin.
