heath ledger's joker: should be self-explanatory, but an absolutely stunning performance. probably the greatest avatar of nihilism i've ever seen.

rorshach (watchmen): the most sympathetic anti-hero i've ever come across. the watchmen film, for me, was a movie that conspired almost solely to present that most awful choice: peace, or the truth? when i was younger, i felt like rorshach had the right of it. by the time i rewatched the movie several years later, i realized i no longer thought so, but that hurt somehow. just adored the whole 'death of god' message throughout the film.

andrew ryan (bioshock): i will never care about a villain in a video game ever again, now. thanks 2K.

oberyn martell (game of thrones): there are a lot of good performances in GoT, but i was literally delighted for every second he was on screen. i loved pedro pascal's performance of this role so much that i followed his acting to narcos, which i also fell in love with.
