My very first role-play was a warrior cats site called "Virtual Warrior World" where I played for a while until later becoming less interested in warrior role-plays and soon moving to the animanaga setting. I remember I was not a very good role-player when I first started there, but it was somewhere a newbie could get comfortable while developing an interest in role-playing in general.

Battleon forums, I was part of a clan in AdventureQuest who did play by post as dragons. We migrated to ProBoards for a few years and continued in a number of different genres between just a few of us until real life bit.
I was on a SuddenLaunch (which closed down for good a number of years ago) Warrior Cats forum for the next one.
After that it becomes very fuzzy, but those were my first few.

My first rp site was an animal mix. If I recall correctly it had felines that I think was limited to leopards, falcons, sharks and I'm sure there was another one but I can't remember. The three admin accounts were the goddess of elements, we had thunder/water/air. And I used to go on aol a lot and in one of the chat rooms I came across a friend that had invited me to her site. (Thinking about it now, I can't help but wonder if she wanted to dump the site on me because she did hand the site to me later that year and since I was a new rper, I didn't have experience running a site.)

Everyone be finding warrior cats via neopets but I'd snuck onto the family computer and was looking for a snazzy warrior cats game where I could of course take over the forest and rule everything in my single digit edginess. When instead I found a forum, and got sucked into that whole shebang, never quite got free of rp so that place can be accountable for why Im here and all that. It was aptly named wcrpg, quite a fitting name. |

The first forum RP I was on was a (Dutch) Warrior Cats site that was simply named "Warrior Cats". I joined it because 12-year-old me loved Warrior Cats (and honestly? I still like the concept) and I was looking for fangames but found that site instead. At first I didn't understand how the whole play-by-post RPG stuff worked but now I obviously do and it's one of those sites that feels like home to me. Fun fact: The site still exists and is still active after like 8 years. |

It feels weird thinking about it but I think my firsy rping experience was actually on an mmo before anything else. I think I was only 11 or 12 at the time and it was where most of my creepy experienced were since after that nothing realy shook me. After that I might have continued it on pm in deviant and or in lj. Then in my freshmen year I made this friend who introduced me to proboards to this statless pokemon site and we’d draw out our own characters from the rps. I really digged it and found otherplaces. Only thing that kinda made me sad is I got more and more into animanga sites that didn’t allow my original art that I started shaming myself for my art quality and got into that whole mindset too...so yeah hoping to slowy change that these days by make all the art myself for any future post templates or skins in the future and pick out only sites I can use my own original designs. A lot of fond memories still.

It was a self-hosted Harry Potter forum that no longer exists because this was nearly 17 years ago. It wasn't bad. Eventually left because of the admins, who had a tendency to get irritated when they weren't being worshiped by every member on the site. I watched 3 people get banned for not going out of their way to talk about how great the staff were and left before I could end up involved. XD

idk if anyone has ever heard of it, but i started back in 2007 on a forum-hosting site called wetpaint (which has since been purchased and made into wikifoundry). i found it by chance when looking for warrior cats fanart, and thus my voyage into rp began. around 2009-2010 i switched from warriors to werewolf/human rp and stayed on one wetpaint site for literal years... eventually all the other members died off more or less in terms of activity and it was just me and a now-former-friend rp'ing with ourselves and each other. but then i left them after they turned out to be a not good person and had a solid 2 1/2 year break from roleplaying which literally crushed me emotionally and mentally in terms of my health.
during that time i was dating my ex who told me of proboards roleplay, and that's when i got back into warriors rp forums and i met shanimal whom instantly was like "gay cats? gay cats" w/me and we ran our own warriors forum for a while and it was great fun. when she joined delphia she encouraged me to test the waters for months but i was like "idk shit bout pokemon..." and was super hesitant before finally deciding to give it a try back when school started for me in 2017 and... shit i've been there ever since, although we've moved to event horizon on jcink now. ulla has made it a wonderful experience and i truly hope to have EH as a permanent, long-term home for myself and my characters. it's helped me move on from the past and grow and self-realize and i'm really grateful to both the aforementioned nerds for making that experience possible for me. |

laughs in the rp forums of fanfiction.net, specifically for fairy tail. man, those were the days. i literally just slapped the photo of a random original anime character from google, gave a name and just c/p-ed the magic abilities for them in the fairy tail wiki.
before that i vaguely remember being part of a space-based panfandom for Non/Disney characters in proboards. i remember seeing a trailer-thing for it being advertised in youtube by one of young!me's favorite editors in the community, got curious and. well. there you go. but i also had no idea what i was doing when i joined it so,,,, i dont really count that much /orz.
