Anyone interested in a modern fantasy/occult RPG in a Japanese urban setting? The premise revolves primarily around conflict between humans and monsters, with a government agency known as the Night Department having recruited Guardians (I.e. Humans from ancient bloodlines that are gifted with spiritual powers) in order to maintain peace and order between the human and monster worlds, and to suppress rampaging monsters and rogue spiritualist, and maintain the masquerade. It's primarily influenced by occult fantasy animanga series and games such as Ga-Rei, Night Agent: I'm the Savior, Kujaku-Oh/Peacock King, etc.
one of my friends found a couple trpgs with a similar premise to this (Kuro and Kamigakari, specifically) and I gotta say—I am Very Much Into This Premise thank u for ur time

Currently and finally reading Know My Name by Chanel Miller and I'm honestly struck by how gorgeously written it is; it's so cutting and visceral and unapologetic and I love it for all these things and more.

Possible TW for anyone sensitive to the subject (context: this is written by "Emily Doe" from the Brock Turner case) but I really wanted to share at least one passage.

The point is not their individual significance, but their commonality, all the people enabling a broken system. This is an attempt to transform the hurt inside myself, to confront a past, and find a way to live with and incorporate these memories. I want to leave them behind so I can move forward. In not naming them, I finally name myself.
My name is Chanel.

What was important, what was not, whose job was it to judge? Until then I’d never contemplated how to present love as evidence. I’d never documented the precise pacing and development of our relationship. I had just been living it as it was unfolding. Living, as people do.

sometimes i question why in god's sake am i taking a metaphysics class that primarily focuses on the philosophy behind belief systems.

then i remember i obsessively read brandon sanderson novels for fun and can spend literal hours discussing and dissecting the themes in them.

i really signed myself up for this huh :"D

took a few days off for myself and started catching up with my all-time favorite podcast—The Magnus Archives (finally starting act iii of the finale and i am not ready)

that in mind, something with a similar vibe as TMA—dark urban horror, paranormal with eldritch entities that feast on your fears, humans can become embodiments of these entities, an institute is dedicated to recording these supernatural phenomenon, and underneath its building is a spiralling map of labyrinthine tunnels. i need it in my hands now. ceaseless watcher, please do give it to me
