i am a personal advocate for plecos because they're super durable, chill fish for freshwater tanks. usually, they don't bully other fish except smaller crustaceans. armor protects it from fish that like to be aggro. used to house the one i have with a betta until the betta lived thru its lifespan. so now i have a dinosaur of a pleco in my tank. I have a pleco .-. he's like 4 inches long x.x Do i need another one? Not bein rude, I'm wholly serious. I've got a pleco, 2 cichlids, and 2 oscars in a 55 gallon I think it is. I've done algae treatments, water changes, new filters. It just keeps coming back. My water is greeeeeeeeeeeen. I even moved the tank away form the window and have been limiting light exposure. Idk what else to do .-. maybe another pleco is needed but he's big x.x -pokes wafer- do your job better fam. ooh honestly then i'm not sure! i wouldn't add another one unless there is space. i have just one in a 30 gallon and i don't have space for another one since mine continues to grow by the day. i know the only other way aside from too much light, old filters, etc. is overfeeding your fish (which i think is easy to do bc when i had mollies i loved to feed them). i know from time to time i have to deep clean my aquarium gravel because food gets stuck in there which can cause algae blooms. i only feed lil dino once a week because i notice he doesn't finish his algae wafer if i feed any more than that. not knowledgeable about the fish you have in your tank aside from the pleco. but i know there are some fish species that consume algae in the water, like mollies. when i had those, i had little issue with my tank getting green.
