discord is like.....80% of the community activity and a majority of plotting opportunities - i've seen people post screenshots of their discord chats here from their sites. imagine being a member of that site, who feels uncomfortable in the chat for whatever reason, seeing that is disheartening. it feels like you aren't a part of it anymore and missing out. to other members it might even feel like you aren't there most of the time, so it's not as simple as that. thats not to say sites shouldn't have them, it's all personal choice and experience. discords are the heart of a community in rps that have them - to most people, they make everything so much easier. you lose so much by not being a part of them - by all means have them, it's a great tool for communication, but also not very transparent. member directories are amazing - but in my experience, the member i was avoiding wasn't on the directory. they had no character or anything. so idk maybe if a user is on the discord server for like, a few weeks w/o site activity, maybe kick them? seems rude tho. mm, i have a lot o say about this b/c i feel bad and wanna give proper advice. but it'll probs lead into a discussion that i ain't trying to have, lmfao. but...as for your second half.
i feel you on that last bit. it is rude, but i mean it depends i suppose on who the individual in question is most defs. like, if they have a history in causing problems and what not/some moments and they're not even rp'ing/have a char. on site? then yeah definitely kick them. b/c if they're not gonna rp on the discord, don't come causing any trouble pls. just hangout, chill, relax. u don't gotta make a char. but don't come bringing any drama llama. then again, as a roleplay site, ur not obligated to let people stay. if ur site isn't a resource site, no need for them to be on it if they're not gonna rp. b/c, again, ur not a resource site ur an rp site. but, then again, idk, i'm 50/50 on it. it just depends on the individuals in question, b/c hoenn does a great job with inviting any and everybody, there haven't been any issues/problems at all really.
and i like that they're so welcoming to everyone, whether they wanna rp on it or not. it's very chill, a lot of nice people. i've met some really super peeps. but, like i said, i'm 50/50 and it really depends on a lot of things.
