Even after a site is gone, one thing I love is bringing it up in a conversation and getting "OH! I remember that place, that place was awesome, that was you?!"

Sometimes sites just don't work out because of life and that's just the way of things, but when they're remembered fondly as a place that people had fun for a few months? That's when you know you've done good.

Hour 22 of 27: My hair is so soft, I spent a good minute in public pretending to make it neat when all I was really doing was just feeling how soft it was.

I'm so tired y'all and I still got five more hours before I can go to bed.

  • Final Fantasy XIV. It's got a rich world and a lot to explore, and it means that some of us might not have to maintain our subscriptions to roleplay within it.
I've seen someone post an ad for an FFXIV roleplay, though...
Sorry for the double post but I just saw this. Where abouts? I haven't been around for awhile.

Behold: a system that could be adapted.

If people are serious about this (which, judging by the notifications I'm getting, I'd say yes), I had a site I was developing but I'd be totally down to work with someone for this. I can't skin Jcink for the life of me though; I can barely code anymore as it is.
i.... honestly wouldn't want a system that intense. i'm not really a fan of dnd-esque systems for rping, however ignorable they may be in context, just because i can't be bothered with them and i'm the sort of person who can't in good conscience force people to use a system i'm not willing to use (or give the option to ignore it). plus i'd be wary of min-maxers or powerplayers because i've had too much experience with abuse from my years in pokemon and mmo sites. oops this is why i've been high-key dreading trying to put serious thought into systems, they're so hard to balance in a way i'm satisfied with

jcink has a lot of premade skins, both on here and other resource sites, so even if you don't have a custom skin at first (and i would actually almost advise a premade so you get a feel for how established the site actually ends up being), you'll be okay.

..... i'm already seeing that i'm gonna end up wordbarfing the ideas i had going for af soon oops
I have a lot of experience with MMO sites as well. If you're doing a site purely for the lore aspect and not for the MMO aspect, I wouldn't suggest putting in quests and systems and what not; I would suggest running it purely like a fantasy site which just so happens to be set in the FFXIV universe. Let people do their personal growth through writing as opposed to numbers.

Regardless, when I posted up the system, I meant more using it as a reference to pick apart to build something and not so much using it as a D&D system. As much as I'd love to run the experiment of a D&D system on a forum someday, I know there's a lot of people who wouldn't want that.

tbeh i keep bouncing between "do i want to do aetherflow or not" because... imo there is a serious lack of ffxiv rps around (to the point where i've literally not seen one that i'd consider joining since one closed out of the blue three years ago, it had such a nice skin and was on jcink, i always was sad about it suddenly closing down before i had a chance to poke around more than a cursory thing while i was dropping by for an ad). but i also really do not want to try to work out systems for classes + battle + questing / raiding. that and i stare into the abyss because i don't really have the time to run something else but by this point i'm starting to wince over whether i'll ever see a xiv site if i'm not just biting the bullet and doing it myself

honestly by this point it's probably only a matter of time before i just "screw it, we'll see if i can find a systems admin to light this candle and see what happens." but also honestly, if the site is on jcink and isn't mixed faces and allows in-game avatars and doesn't have ridiculous activity requirements, it'd take next to no effort to convince to help staff one too or just hand over the skeleton idea i'd had and duck out

I've now learned that you never truly retire from the roleplaying community, you just take an extended hiatus until you've got your shit together.

Also, picking up coding after you haven't touched it actively in two years is so goddamn hard.

  • Final Fantasy XV. Heck, 15 might even be really cool. I haven't kept up to date on it, but I'm sure there's enough there to make a site.

  • Voltron: Legendary Defender. Let's just take the entire series and rewrite it with OCs and hopefully it'll make a mild amount of sense. S8 was whack on multiple levels.
  • Final Fantasy XIV. It's got a rich world and a lot to explore, and it means that some of us might not have to maintain our subscriptions to roleplay within it.
  • Final Fantasy XV. Heck, 15 might even be really cool. I haven't kept up to date on it, but I'm sure there's enough there to make a site.
  • Miraculous Ladybug. It's superhero genre with a magical girl twist. Best of both worlds.
