People who come from high society or the like who have trouble connecting with others. Lonely, fragile yet excitable and kind. But also can be cruel and selfish because of where they came from. Like a Daisy Buchanan type of character?
I think I tend to gravitate to these types a bit, though I'm sure there's more.

1. Characters with physial disablities that also roll over into their personality; being defined by appearances and letting others judge them for it. Introverted and usually awkward, they strive to better themselves.
2. Beautiful girls that have less-than perfect personalities. Or their negatives traits tend to overpower the positives. Usually they are aware of this fact, and hate that they are like this. This makes their goal(s) to develop themselves as a person, because they find out very quickly that beauty is skin deep.
3. Really boring, blantantly average dudes who are slackers. But for some reason everyone likes them, and they notice that they might not be so average after all.

I tend to try and fill niches / create characters that can produce conflict and insert some movement into the site-wide plot.
But oh man do I love bad boys. Manipulative assholes who are actually huge cowards and don't have any great plans beyond pissing someone off or grabbing that new game console with someone else's money. I also like dumb fight babies who will aggro at everything because actual social interaction is hard but they're actually sweeties deep down i promise!!

Idiot/dense guys who either have no social skills or like to be assholes. Tend to be angst-machines as well.
But most of them are genuinely sweet once you get to really know them, but still... IQ of 0.

I tend to find myself roleplaying the quiet, anti-social, edgy types (and doing a really bad job at that except on rare occasions when I've stored up all my muse for just one post) or the overly thoughtful/paranoid/anxious types. Characters who are seriously in denial about one of their strongly defining personality traits - whether it be something they find embarrassing or not - are my ultimate guilty pleasure. >:3c Also characters with shakey morals/philosophy that they either acknowledge or refuse to acknowledge = nice. Characters that are genuinely trying their best but doomed to fail in some aspect of their lives due to a flaw in how they objectively see themselves or those around them.
Last but not least, I have way too much fun with any character I have doomed (plotted) to destroy him/herself due to their crippling flaws and poor decisions in their life.

I have two extremes.
The Good Child or the Dumbass Binch.
There is no inbetween.

...I don't do archetypes I import characters /shot
But yeah so far there's:
- the guy who wants to understand and help everybody - the airhead who's too good at killing people - the dutiful person who's too serious and unable to understand certain puns and jokes
That's off the top of my head.

Abrasive and arrogant leader-types that tend to start a lot of conflict. I've found a lot of sites have people who are afraid to rock the boat and afraid to actually lead IC for fear of 'fucking up'. When I can fill both niches at once, it makes me so happy to enable a lot of people. Antagonists are just as important as friends, and you do not need to be a villain to be one. One can even be a very heroic person in general for the most part and just be... well, a jerk. The people who end up seeing combat frequently and put their lives on the line when it counts aren't always the nicest people in the room -- and I think that's important to engage with in a lot of the genres that I enjoy.
My characters tend to be masters of 'quick plans'. This is not the same as 'good plans' in a lot of cases, and I try to give people the opportunity to improve on it by adding their character's expertise when it counts. My OOC goal is to get a plan that's workable enough to where we don't all die, even if it's sloppy and messy just so everyone's doing something. Any plan is better than no plan, in my opinion, and I embrace that as a way to show people that you don't need to be the anime chessmaster thinking 50 steps ahead to voice an opinion. Sometimes it really is as simple as 'Hey, Fred, go distract that giant monster and we'll go behind it and look for a weak spot!'

I noticed my characters usually share one trait: being confrontational - at various levels. Otherwise: • Caged-bird characters whose views clash with others. They face strong internal struggles because of what they want, what they have been taught, what they consider right or wrong. Feeling they - may - disappoint their family weighs down on their mind, but I love when they're shattered, at their lowest point. Then they start to 'live' for themselves.
• 40yo dad with important duties/ruler: because their closet's door leads to a cemetery, they did a lot of things to maintain/gain this power/their position, and they know karma is a binch. Also they can't tell everything to their kids. Secretive & (over)protective dad vs kids.
• Leader-type girl stuck in a patriarchal fam. Still, she'll do anything to protect her land/country, and if she needs to deceive/lie to her parents, be it.
• Macho extrovert loud guy. Life is a party, gets on women's nerves, but he doesn't care until one punches him - and wait, is it a love punch? ya, bonus point, he's dumb in this area. Prone to disaster.

I play edgelords not even gonna front. I try to play other archetypes from time to time. But my main character on most sites I join is always an edgy boi. Tragic backstory, anti-social tendencies, a jerk, has some anger issues, maybe even hates himself and doesn't think they're deserving of affection. Kinda toe the line between moral and immoral. They still wanna be good deep down tho. Can't forget about them dark/demonic powers either. Probably got it through some less than respectable means.
Basically I make Riku or Sasuke on every site.

i like my dumb angsty kids who have had at least one (1) tragic event happen in their life. bonus points if they've now morphed into an absolute dumbass because of it. in general i like Big Dick energy characters.
i also like making nervous or anxious ones because they're basically self inserts.

Torture... Absolute Torture. it could be Physical, Mental.. just flat out abuse. And then after all this abuse the obedience to outwit the abuser in wonderful banter.
story here - don't roleplay with me, nods.
