big rp dreams but none of the balls to carry it out + feeling silly and presumptuous about post requirements and all that because who am i to make people feel remotely pressured in this ~hobby~. if people wanna write then they would(along with the what), but i think overall i learned a lot, thankfully with most of them largely in line with what i’m doing next…. maybe.

i should just go back to being people’s hype man instead of being my own tho

I confess I have no clue what CSS Grid and Flex are and haven't the slightest idea how to use them o.o
flex froggy
grid garden

basically given a display: flex/grid, you're telling a div how to order its children.
play them and reference them enough and one day you'll never have to open them up ever again

w3schools 2 hard, i need them displayed like im in kindergarten wee

There's something utterly disappointing about seeing a character using a name very specific to your homeland/culture, getting excited about meeting a compatriot...except they just wanted something exotic and have no clue about your country at all.

sob sob sob i just want friends
sometimes in modern slice of life rp…

but honestly i like doing it when both parties are on the same channel(read: culture)
making someone cry or laugh because of it is still one of my peak rp moments…

most of the times it’s a miss tho so yes i agree. think im the only one here in my country rn… (atm)

hey im actually here for weird food and comedy that actually works but what’s that last episode

imo the best parts of dungeon meshi are the ones that don't actually involve food or comedy (e.g. all the elf and political stuff that's coming up next cour i think)
o... those sudden heavy race implications out of nowhere(marcille pissed at the orcs) is beginning to make sense... the whole gnome meeting too... looked up to see if the manga's finished and seeing as it is and how i don't see any complaints(like for jjk and oshi no ko)... i'm invested!!! gib!!!

all the rp concepts in my head but none of the friends nor skills needed to make them a “successful” site. skinning is easy(sometimes) but building a community?? definitely not the person to do it hehe. props to the friend groups who can pull it off — and that’s the key isn’t it? friend groups as staff. imo + afaik anw!

it’s fact at this point so i feel more shikatanai~ than being all sadge. lowkey thinking of making it all a legit game instead… and maybe that’s what i need in life. to dream bigger?? …said the someone who’d never dared to dream in her entire life skdhfksdhf rip

off the top of my head, just using jcink’s webpages to compile the all-u-need-to-know basics would help tremendously(stuff like style hierarchies, debugging methods, common html ‘bugs’ and their fixes(like that pesky position sticky plus overflow bit, absolute-relative)), since i think most members have ideas but don’t really know how to find out what’s wrong, or how to find their way to their answers..

then the rest of the board could be strictly other resources + testing threads? no chatter… it might make it seem dead-ish but at least pp won’t…?

it’s absolutely possible to do that in pb threads yeah, but i think all the information being spread out makes it difficult to take it in unless you reaaally know what you’re looking for.
a starter’s guide sounds cute, and then maybe an intermediate one (but i suspect this isn’t necessary because after you learn the basics, it’s all experimentation methinks)

if there’s anything i can do to help, pls feel feel to ping me too!!! i can script and turn figma into (hopefully readable) code \o/

people will always walk the path with least resistance and more familiarity.. jcink resource sites may have more barriers to user engagement imo — you have to click into individual threads to know what people are talking about, whereas on pb’s built in recent posts function, you’re in the know without trying and can tune in more if a stray post interests you. keeps the conversation alive, as well as the community feel more visible.

but pb as a resource site, or just pb coding in general, have a huge barrier to even start learning how to code. we already know the reasons for that so we don’t have to rehash it ig. jcink resources are generic resources like w3school. pb resources… will have to be sourced by its own community, but i think we only have a handful of pb coders now, esp since the rlpc moved on completely to jcink, and with more coders being more familiar with ‘base html’.

for what it’s worth i can try implementing recent posts for the jcink skin, , as well as the other installations/features if you need an extra pair of hands. if it fails then .. well, you tried!! it does take two(community + staff) to tango. you can maybe also try a survey to see if people really wants to learn coding anyway, since it’s usually not people’s cup of tea. we’re mostly writers first and foremost, and people here for the community != people here to learn how to code and all that.

more sites are on jcink now though, so it’s up to admins if they wanna move forward to a completely jcink platform… and cutting the cord for pb. because if pp still works and people are still posting here, why would i make the effort to register an account there with no chatter, etc.

imo.. with more sites being on jcink now, it does seem counterintuitive that our base community is on a pb platform. if we want more people trying out coding,,, then the answer is obvious. community-wise then it’s not my place to say. idk if i’m even qualified to write tutorials and stuff since i’m not super good at those hot aesthetics, but… given a choice, i’d rather eat a bullet over doing a step by step guide @ pb for a simple template.

I think it was approximately or nearing 500 -- but that was including comms I think. Plus I only had that one character in that site... so it's nothing special? Not counting that site, then it's around 250 on another... or smtg. I know people who play multiple characters and have a few of them in the top 10 spot and that's -- woahhh. Imagine if they were all for one character!! -head kaboom-

Here's to hoping I write lots this year!!

lots of drabbles in my head.. and unfinished ones in docs.. there's smtg about writing fanfics with characters i've written with but can't show them publicly because they're also not my characters...

the muse demands to be written even after sites/their writers are gone
but to be seen??? is a luxury im afraid.
