piggybacking off of 's idea for staffing advice (tho tbh i think it could easily be its own thread)

1. plan how you want everything to be laid out ahead of time. not having your site easy to navigate and your site information easy to recall is going to really kill your member's ability (or desire to) want to seek information out. i'm not saying that you need to have an insane amount of lore planned and written out like does (calling you out bitch), but having things very neatly and concisely laid out is a real time saver for everyone involved fr

2. learn how to be okay with being the bad guy, sometimes. even if you're not actually the bad guy, and you're just being fair, or enforcing the rules that your members knew about from the beginning. this isn't a dig at all, but i've noticed that a lot of people struggle to say no, or don't want to be the staff that has to bring down the hammer when the time comes. it always ends up being me lmao. it's a surefire way to make your other staff frustrated too.

3. stick to an update schedule for things like site updates. or figure out how to do the fizzy elf thing. you will thank yourself later.

4. remember that it's YOUR site, ultimately, and it's supposed to be fun.

My best friend bought and built me an Eva 2 for Christmas bc she knew that I would never build a gundam on my own and now I’m just looking at it smiling and kicking my feet. It’s sitting on my desk next to Gul Dukat, Eris Morn, David King, Will Riker and Sesshomaru and it’s like. :) they are all friends!

Yeah, I've mostly been doing the coding thing during the weekends mostly. And then occasionally building out things after work just so I don't lose touch with coding in general. But seriously it feels like it never ends though. Between the templates, and the other things too. It's so in depth though @_@
make a list! to do list, with checks or percentages. break it down to smaller tasks so that you get the little dose of achievements as you go-- and before u know it you'll be done!

fool proof method I use for work whenever I just. can't. makes skinning seem more manageable too when I see the list getting smaller and smaller. fr it gets bleak when the perceived workload is never changing oof
See. I’ll make the list and then never actually use it again. Never cross anything off. The pitfalls of adhd. But it is helpful when I do actually remember, and it feels good to cross items off the list! I just….never remember to do so💀

also imagine being able to just focus on one project at a time and just dedicate all your creative time and energy to that one skin. I desperately wish that was me. I’m currently jumping back and forth between four skins and barely making progress on any of them.

not to double post but do you ever read someone else's coding, and it's so vastly different from how you do it that you're just "huh" bc your instinct is to do the exact opposite of what they did to achieve the same goal

and you never woulda thought to do it that way probably

You mean people play new games and not the same handful of games year after year? Wild.

Anyway I’m grinding the new season of destiny. I hate it.

I just watched my friend play all of alien isolation (which I’ve played) and outlast (I have not finished), and it’s got me wanting to actually play single player survival horror again. I never did finish Soma, it’s so fucking dark. I have a habit of starting games and never finishing them LMAO

A wholeass mood buddy. I agree with Tanz. Give yourself some breathing room. You’re on a roll, and it’s addicting- I get it. But give yourself a break bc you will burn yourself out if you’re not careful. No one skins in a week.

having done rl, animanga and animal rp and enjoyed them all, i think it's safe to say that for all of them, they scratch a different itch. that being said, i understand why people are uncomfortable with using rl faces for rp. it always made me feel a bit....weird also, but the vibes in rl rp spaces is simply so different than it is in our community that you kinda just get over it if you want to be apart of the community. i was only ever in it bc i wanted to write with a friend of mine, but i enjoyed my time there, and there are things about the rl rp community that i enjoy- and that i'm glad to see are starting to be incorporated into ours as well (such as the main profile app, the shipper app, etc)

i started off in animal rp, and i always come back to it bc it's a comfort for me. but i've always considered animanga rp to be my home. anime was such a safe space for me as a severely depressed teenager, and that's what def drew me to it for rp. i was already a rper by the time i discovered anime, so it was a natural leeway for me to start writing animanga roleplay. i definitely enjoy using pretty anime characters for faces, and i love the creativity of our members in the coding animanga community. i'm inspired by others constantly and it makes me want to be a better writer and coder for sure.

also i've been doing it for over a decade at this point and i feel like it's too late to change up LMAO
