It was your mention of the Au Ra that made me think that - because while I have an Au Ra in Limsa... I do feel they're a bit out of place almost in terms of it clearly states they come from a different place. Which is partly why I used Limsa because it was the only place that in my brain made sense to start

Now you've said it - that does sound really interesting! Maybe as an interesting mechanic for an alternate start rather than your class dedicating where you start it'd be even more interesting to use your race - so for example my Miqo'te Ta'vren should have started in Gridania (Typo'd probably) over Ul'dah

I'd love less a whole new race (Though Ronso would be beast) but more another clan to the Miqo'te, and technically all the others. But I'm gonna talk about Miqo'te cause that's the race I've got more experience with -

So far everything exists in a duality - but I'd LOVE to have a clan that has specialised for dawn/dusk hunting. That may not be so adept during the day or during night, but really good during the time when the light is neither, who may have slightly more bulk then the standard Miqo'te, but equally they're less a clan in terms of banding together but are total isolationists, two meeting can cause fights etc.

To me that'd be really interesting and maybe that clan splits into two - those who adapt to the dawn those who adapt to dusk. Or maybe it's the females that tend to dusk activity etc...
