Fireflies
[attr="class","sumreign-lyrics"]You would not believe your eyes If ten million fireflies Lit up the world as I fell asleep
Fingers danced over each passing bush, curious eyes trailing around at the open darkness. A soft breeze tickled his neck, but nothing seemed to be popping out as too spectacular. An hour before he’d received a message from Everett to come out here, no context given or any other sort of reason besides '
it will be amazing.' Most times Zero wouldn’t expect too much when it came to the surprises his best friend would pull on him; he remembered a past birthday where Everett tried to throw him a surprise birthday, but forgot to invite anybody. [break][break]
Safe to say that was probably the most entertaining thing of that day.[break][break]
Rose-gold eyes squinted slightly, seeing a faint light just off in the distance. It seemed to be that of a small lantern, one that used candlelight instead of those AA batteries, from the way that it flickered just a hair. Pressing his lips into a thin line, the short male pressed forward, slowly pushing his hands into his pockets. Being out in the middle of a dark forest was becoming quite the eerie concept it seemed. Who knows what could be lurking in the shadows? Fingers twitched in the pockets, the soft crunching of dead leaves seeming to almost echo around him. [break][break]
Once he reached the man with the lantern, Zero settled his eyes up at the taller man.
“What did you bring me out here--” A soft, shh cut him off, his brows raising in both annoyance and question. What could be so important that he had to be quiet?[break][break]
From the corner of his eyes, he saw Everett toss
something towards the looming darkness in front of them and not even a second later, the area turned from an abyss to a beautiful light show. Fireflies danced around the area like floating lights and all Zero could do was stare in awe. Never in his twenty-three years had he witnessed fireflies in person before. They were honestly just so… [break][break]
“Beautiful,” he breathed, stepping forward as he let himself soak up the sight. A metallic hand reached out, as if wanting to touch the flying lights, a small laugh bubbling out of him. This was truly an amazing thing to witness, even if it was something so simple, it was still really, really beautiful. [break][break]
“Isn’t it? I found this spot the other day when I was comin’ here with Aggie. She said that you might enjoy a little light in your life.”[break][break]
Smack. Zero scowled up at the taller male, a smile however was still present on his lips.
“Shut up.” Bringing his eyes back towards the fireflies, he moved forward to move through them as he spun around slowly. He couldn’t remember the last time that he felt so happy. When he met Everett? At this time, that had been a long time ago.[break][break]
Fireflies could bring happiness into even the darkest of souls. That alone was a truly magical thing.[break][break]
