Hey! That's a really weird bug. I have something similar on my screen but that's cause I use plugins. Can I ask just for some narrowing down, what browser are you using and do you have any plugins that would change anything )styish, force dark mode, etc.? Also is it just pixel? Do you notice this on any other websites and did this accompany a browser update or something? I'm sorry I'm asking 'those' questions but just to narrow down wtf is going on cause that is so weird.

Thanks for the reply! I'm using Google Chrome, and I don't believe it had updated recently. It's only on Pixel that I'm getting this bug, I've tried viewing other Proboards sites and they seem to work fine. I really only have the Adblock plugin installed on my Chrome and I've disabled it as mentioned previously...

I tried using other browsers such as Safari and Firefox and they seem to be fine. Seems like it might be a Google Chrome issue, so I might reach out for support with them to get to the root cause of it. 🥲

this is my murder mittens ^-^
this is late whoops
its likely a network issue. i also get the black boxes on chrome; this seems to be during when chrome is painting / recalculating the style of the site. i think(?) what's likely happening is that chrome asks for all the resources (i.e. fonts, images) first and *then* does the painting. this is going off of what chrome performance tab suggests, but the paint is not the thing that's taking a ton of time; its the load of resources - so perhaps the painting is actually waiting for some of those resources? safari & firefox also tend to be more optimised so maybe that would explain why it works fine there

["recalculate style" is actually just a bunch of requests for resources. the entries after that is the actual painting i believe]

the other maybe a little more weird possibility is that the transition style rendering is getting stuck somehow?

I think this is it. Some days the site loads fine, some days I get the weird black screen tear. I went ahead and uninstalled Chrome, and did a fresh install and it seems to have fixed the problem for now.

Honestly no idea why it happened in the first place, but the how explains a lot! Thanks!
