Spoiler Alert:

If you haven't finished Dragon Age Inquisition and/or the Trespasser DLC and have somehow managed to avoid spoiling either for yourself up to this point: I suggest turning back now.

~~~
So there's been some interest expressed in a Dragon Age rp before (by myself as well as some others) and since I've had this idea stuck in my head for a while now (more fully formed thanks to finishing the gotye of Inquisition a couple of weeks ago) I decided to go ahead and toss it out there to see if there was any interest in it.
Concept Thusfar:
An uneasy silence fell across Thedas in the months following Solas's revelation to the Inquisitor. - While the Qunari turned on Tevinter with heightened vigor, the remainder of the continent returned; as much as possible, to life before the breach. Yet many waited with bated breath to see what new horrors awaited them.
As time progressed, and what remained of the second Inquisition hunted for the elven mage, the silence began to give way to chaos. Chaos that began with the reveal of the reason behind the silence from Weisshaupt Fortress: No soul, living or otherwise, remained within. The interior was pristine, offering no explanation of what had befallen its inhabitants at first glance. Further inspection revealed only the slightest signs of a scuffle.
Pieces:
  • The main setting will be the Anderfels, with Grey Warden characters highly encouraged.
  • There will be sub-plots/site events that effect the state of the world.
  • Faces - I'm not 100% on how these will be handled just yet, but I know that use of characters created in the games will be fully allowed.
  • Canons - No game canons will be playable characters, though there may be site-specific canons.
  • Most likely to be hosted on jcink, because I fail at proboards.
  • I am officially looking for additions to the staff team.
If you have any questions: don't hesitate to ask. I will answer anything that doesn't spoil future site events.
Would you allow Spirit characters, in the vein of Cole, who turned into a human? I ran Rhyme (see my signature) in a Dragon Age forum a long time ago (there wasn't even Inquisition then) as the amnesiac doppelganger of a deceased Tevinter anti-slave revolutionary who wielded water magic... or would something related to Solas be better? I don't know much about how the lore of Dragon Age has progressed since then, though >.>
Also would more... animesque skillsets like juggling swords be okay >.> /runs away
Sooo. On the top part: My immediate answer to Cole-esque characters is a yes. So long as players keep in mind, and accurately portray -- either via the application or IC developments -- the learning curve that's associated with spirits taking human form. ((As someone who hasn't read the books, but knows that he appeared in one of them...I can't give any information gleamed from them, and can only take into account the things that he talks about in the game.)) By his own admission, when fighting the Envy demon at Therinfall, he was at least a bit corrupted when he first took on human form, and it took time and being shown his "wrong" to get to the beautiful cinnamon roll that he is in Inquisition.
As for the Evanuris. Aside from Solas - and what remained of Mythal, which he now carries - they're all supposed to be locked behind the veil. However, on that note, I do have intentions for them to become a part of the site. - Now if you're looking for an ancient elf with memory loss from the start there is the option of other Elvhen similar to Abelas/the sentinels from the temple of Mythal. ((Or even one of them, perhaps, as I do intend for them to have lived.)) - And because I am willing to accept both - if you like - I wouldn't be completely opposed to the idea of a spirit that took on the form of one of said elvhen as it is noted by Abelas that each time they have awakened their numbers have grown smaller, which gives the thought that skirmishes of some kind have happened between them and outsiders on more than one occasion.
As for the bottom question: Although it may be extremely dangerous, and require a lot of practice, sword juggling is something that could potentially exist in a realistic setting as well. xD So. Like. As long as they don't completely break the world lore, I don't mind skill-sets that might seem a little...odd? ((And by completely break I mean that as the veil is still intact powerful magic beyond what any mage has ever accomplished in history since the veil was constructed would be a 'no' from me.)) -- Side note, though not entirely unrelated: The fighting skills displayed by characters in the games, I would think, would definitely allow room for concepts such as sword juggling in terms of skill sets. I mean. Even if you haven't played/can't play Inquisition there are a LOT of 'let's play' videos on youtube, and /Looks specifically at the dual-wield rogue abilities in Inquisition./ -- Yeah. I think you're good. xD
PLEASE KEEP ME INFORMED ON THIS?
I would LOVE a forum like this, I've never found a Dragon Age forum where I can use the characters I make in the game's creator so I'm SOOOOOLD on that.
I also like the idea of an AU/non-canon RP, I don't have much to ADD but I will say I am SO for this.
So that everyone knows: I am still working on this. I've just had a heck of a time coming up with a design that I like. Fortunately I got hit by inspiration tonight thanks to replaying the Here Lies The Abyss main story-line quest earlier today.
I've spent the last few hours working on the mock-up for the skin (which I'm awful at) and it's not even close to finished, BUT for those who might be interested in at least a glimpse of what this will look (close to, because I'm not perfect) like, I'll share a link to the unfinished mock-up: here it is.
I LIKE THE MOCK UP THUS FAR, it's nice and clean and easy on the eyes, not to complicated which is LOVELY. I can't code to save my life but if you ever need/want graphics help I'd be happy to lend some help? just hmu, but so far it's looking good! And I'm more than a little stoked for this /vibrates
