the key to keeping your balance is knowing when you've lost it.
and I have been fiddling with an idea for a couple of weeks and wanted to find out if others would be interested in a site like this; we wanted to combine elements from Stranger Things and Lovecraftian Lore, where characters can explore 4 different realms: the regular human world (or in this case, the small town they all live in), the Nightmare Realm, and two others (titles and stuff are still a WIP). The "monsters" from these realms are trying to rip the fabric that keeps these realms separate, in an attempt to free themselves (a weak and vague motive, I know, but we are coming up with better ideas as we go).

The way these monsters introduce this to the residents of our small town is through a kidnapping, and due to the size of the town and the popularity/importance of the missing person, practically everyone is on the lookout. Somehow (not sure how), a rift between the realms is created, and although it isn't the scale that the monsters want, it is a good start. The reason for this being that while the humans are desperately searching through these realms for their lost loved one, they are also exploring. The more the people travel between realms, as well as dwell within each of them, the thinner the veil between each one becomes. Soon, the realms will fade into one.

A lot of this is still pretty raw...we have a lot of development we want to do but this is the basic premise. Roleplayers can play regular humans or monsters disguised as humans (they look human in our world, but show their true form in their own). Ginger also came up with a unique "stat" system that implements despair/hope and sanity/insanity points. Characters earn different points based on their personality, how long they stay in certain realms, and how often they interact with other characters of various types. We still have yet to decide how this is applicable to the overall plot, but we thought it would be a cool idea nonetheless.

So, what do you think? Sound cool or sound lame? Have any suggestions or comments? The site probably won't be open for a while, but we wanted to see how high the interest level would be before we got deeper into development. We'd love to hear your thoughts!

To keep the forum clean and so people know that all threads in certain areas are current and that the OP is likely to still have interest, we archive threads that haven't gotten posts for 2 weeks. This thread is being archived for that reason. If you would like this thread reopened, contact a staff member.
