akazome thought about how she'd like to live her life: she would spend it on the sidelines as an unnamed npc. she would talk to people just enough to humor them and if they pressed, she would hide behind rude dialogue and unnecessary comments. she would shut the world out and go through it in the same daily motions.

she told herself that was fine and the way things should be. akazome did not want to go bowling or do karaoke. she did not want to sit in a group of people and talk about nothing. she did not want to be a part of anyone's lives because she didn't want anyone to be a part of her own.

her life was full, anyways: a drunken mother and her mother's tattooed boyfriends. there was no space for anyone else.

she told herself this until a monster pressed its weight into her bones and she thought about how very sad and very pointless her life was and how it was never what she wanted to begin with. she thought about how she didn't want to die in a world where nobody so much as knew her name.

I feel trapped on a lonely star. Someone else is very sick next door, and the vibes are almost too painful to bear. But I must stop saying that now so glibly. Someday something will, in fact, be too painful to bear and then I will have to act. Does one simply get tired of living? I can’t imagine right now what that would be like, but that is because I feel filled with a fury to live—because I believe life can be good even when it is painful—a fury that my energies just don’t match my desires anymore.
