Forum info: 18+ community, statless, optional face claims, no word count

Let's start with their mother, Vivian Li.

Vivian is sixty-two years old. She's an overachiever. Beekeeper, Pokémon biologist, botanist, gym leader... she used to be a mayor, and a teacher, too. She cares deeply for the community in Maplewood, her hometown, and strives to make the world a better place through education and scientific research.

When Vivian's husband Feng died, she dug deeper into her work.

She expects her children to take on big roles in the world. She wants them to make great achievements in science, or education, or something. Can't grasp the concept of living a chill, mediocre life. Vivian knows her children have incredible potential and doesn't understand why they're not trying to reach it.

All that said, Vivian expects one of her children to be her successor as Maplewood's gym leader.

But Oliver wants to do his own thing. He's nearly 30, never went to university, and despite his intelligence, he struggled in school because sitting still and focusing on things he didn't care about was extremely challenging. He doesn't want a career. He just wants to be out in nature, hanging out with his Pokémon.

And then there's Primrose, who has streaks of rebellion painting her past (and her present, honestly, I'll be real). She's resentful/jealous of her brother for breezing through school and getting more support from their parents growing up.

Primrose broke one law and was monitored and escorted around for a year.

And no, she's not still angry about that twelve years later, why do you ask?

Prim recently opened a flower shop in Raizun's capital city.

Other notes:

-I have no face claim ideas/preferences for either character, just follow their appearances and pick an 18+ claim if you choose to use one at all.

-Definitely open to modifications and additions to their appearances, personalities, and histories!

Here are their full wanted ads:

OLIVER ZHAO

28 years old, born September 16, 1995.

Average or short height, average build. Tawny/brown skin with brown eyes and black hair.

Oliver has a limp and a scar on his right shin from being poison jabbed when he was 11. He has no ill will or fear around bug or poison Pokémon.

Oliver went to a private high school in Everrain. Probably got up to some shenanigans there.

He has spent the last several years traveling through Raizun.

Oliver was a smart student, but he struggled to pay attention and sit still. His mother helped him get paid work with scientists in Everrain while he was still in high school.

As an adult, he is always on the move, and he learns best by doing. Oliver loves trying new things, "experimenting" in his own weird way, and coming up with creative solutions to problems. He doesn't like cities and much prefers being out in nature, regardless of the biome/environment.

Oliver has a good sense of humor and he tries to lighten every situation, but his success rate is not good. He hates tension and silence of any kind, but he's conversationally a bit awkward. Soap operas and drama shows give him anxiety and he can't stand to watch them.

There were countless arguments and intense friction between Oliver and his parents after he graduated high school, because he did not want to go to university. Instead, he quit his job, used the money he'd saved to start traveling, and has since sustained himself as a trainer.

After his father's death, the arguments faded away. Vivian busies herself in her work and has a strained relationship with her kids, but especially her son, as she feels he's too smart and is wasting his potential—he could be working towards strengthening the region's education system or discovering new things as a scientist. But he simply points out that she, as a gym leader, is being hypocritical.

With Vivian: We can start up some arguments. Good ol' tension that Oliver wants to run away from. Due to his prowess in battling, Vivian is considering making him her successor as Maplewood's Gym Leader. But does he want that kind of responsibility? Is he willing to learn and train under his mother until she retires (or dies)? Does he feel like he can manage a gym and live in the public eye? Would he rather his sister Primrose take on the gym?

With Primrose: He was smarter and had it easier in school than his sister. There's some friction there on her end, though I'm not sure whether he'd be aware of it. He loves her. They had up-and-down phases of closeness throughout their childhood. I could see them bonding over their grief surrounding their father and the things they put up with from their mother. Maybe their love for nature, too. They go on hikes or camping trips together?

POKEMON

Starter Pokémon include a Vespiquen his parents gave him. His mother's Vespiquen laid the egg and Oliver received this starter in 2006, after he was poison jabbed by a wild Pokémon. Oliver's Vespiquen is attached to him like Velcro and is prone to explosive rage when she feels her trainer is threatened.

Oliver inherited his father's Leafeon, Virtue. Virtue was depressed for a long time after Feng's death, but he and Oliver leaned on each other. He is skilled in battle, but prefers to play a more supportive role.

PRIMROSE ZHAO aka Prim or Rosie

25 years old, born June 2nd, 1998.

She is average height with tawny/brown skin, natural black hair often bleached or dyed other colors, and brown eyes. She wears glasses.

Primrose is a quiet and unassuming person. She loves flowers, and plants in general, and is interested in taking up photography and painting, but her biggest passion is horticulture/floriculture.

She has a rebellious streak, but she acts out in subtle, passive aggressive ways. Primrose builds and harbors deep resentment when she dislikes someone or is upset with them, but unless they're paying great attention to details, they'll never know.

Primrose takes risks because, deep down, she doesn't believe she'll amount to anything, and she feels like a failure. She compares herself to where her parents were at her age and to where her brother is. Though Oliver never went to college, Primrose thinks he'd have been far more successful than her at it.

HISTORY

Primrose did okay in school, but it didn't come as easily to her as it did to Oliver. She felt inferior to her brother often as a child, and spent most of her time exploring gardens around and outside of Maplewood.

When she was 13, soon after her mother worked to outlaw fainting and killing bug Pokémon within Maplewood's town borders, Primrose picked a battle with a Caterpie.

It was the first and last time she acted out so blatantly. Her parents faced legal consequences, her mother resigned from her position as Mayor, and Primrose was punished. She was escorted around for a year, not allowed to leave the view of the house alone. Her phone was checked daily. Meanwhile, her brother was off gallivanting around at a private high school in Everrain.

After moping for a month or so, Primrose began spending her time revitalizing the backyard. She picked weeds, planted flowers, and worked with her mother's Combee hive to spread good foliage beyond the family's property.

After her punishment was lifted, Primrose headed out one day, seeking the Caterpie she'd battled all that time ago. She felt guilty.

Caterpie didn't trust her at first, but eventually Primrose befriended it, bringing it its favorite foods and protecting it from bird Pokémon. One day, it followed her home, so she caught it and kept it. It's now a Butterfree.

In 2015, when Primrose was 17, her dad died. She felt depressed, but like the rest of her family, didn't talk about it. They weren't exactly a close family to begin with, but Feng's death was the final nail in the coffin. Primrose began making bouquets and selling them around town to keep herself busy. She struggled with school.

Though Primrose did graduate in 2016, it was by the skin of her teeth. She was given Blossom, a Leafeon born to her parents' Leafeons, as a gift.

With her mother's network and the familial circumstances taken into consideration, Primrose was accepted into Spinarak University and majored in Floriculture.

Recently, Primrose moved to Cenka to start a flower shop.

With Vivian: Vivian is considering asking Primrose to be her successor as Maplewood's Gym Leader. While Prim has experience running a business, she isn't as serious a trainer as her brother. Still, her focus and more goal-oriented attitude, along with that "I don't take BS" personal strength, lead Vivian to believe she'd make a good gym leader.

Is this the one thing she could have over her brother? If she wants it. But is it worth potentially destroying that relationship?

On a more personal level, Primrose definitely resents her mother for favoring her brother over the years and for not trying to find ways to help her be better in school. She still feels that she was punished way too harshly for a law that her mother put into action, and hated spending an entire year having every footstep monitored.

With Oliver: Jealousy is the key word here. Primrose wishes she could be as good at Oliver in battling and she wishes she was as smart as him. She's finding her own identity through her business, and through her knowledge of plants, but when she's around her family it's like all of her progress goes out the window.

That said, she loves her brother and enjoys spending time with him as long as they stay away from certain topics and as long as they're far away from their mother.

POKEMON

Primrose was gifted her first Pokémon, a female Combee born to her mother's Vespiquen, after her brother's injury in 2006. Now a Vespiquen.

As a teenager, Primrose captured a Caterpie that she had previously (illegally) knocked out. S/he has since evolved into a Butterfree.

When she graduated high school, Primrose was gifted Blossom the Leafeon by her mother.
