Hey, want to join my gay hivemind?
The older I get the more it grates me when people...IDK...Try too hard to play the 'I'm so edgy and chaotic' act? I have friends who have to make a point to point out every little thing they do as evidence that they're chaotic or cool or weird when it's like you're literally doing normal shit stop trying so hard...Saying something cursed or chaotic doesn't hit the same when I can tell you're trying too hard to do it. Half the humor of saying shit like that is not making a big fuss out of it and just letting people react but if you have to tell me you're these things well I'm sorry, you're not, you're just normal lgksj;dflkgj

I probably sound so nasty I really don't care it's just something my old man sensibilities have started picking out more and more...

I apologize for the double post, but I suddenly got a few questions and thoughts I wish to share with you:

Since you say this is an academia type setting, I am wondering about the above school age characters? Would there be a university sect for the university/college age characters? Can the much older characters (say 30+) be like the faculty eg teachers, admin work etc? It would be nice to see the teacher/principal/headmaster role being playable.

Yes to both! The school itself will likely teach 16+ and on, so college/uni characters will be more than welcomed! I'm probably going to split it by age, same campus but different building sort of deal!

And older characters will be more than welcome to act as faculty and teachers, in fact, I encourage people to fill out the faculty with characters rather than npcs!

And thank you! That's totally understandable, but your support is super appreciated all the same! ^^

When you tell a friend you've been sleeping too much bc depression and their response is something to the tune of "wow lucky I wish I could sleep!" and you're just like THANKS YOU WANT MY DEPRESSION YOU CAN HAVE IT 8'D

I've never felt so irrationally angry like I wanna flip a table

I wasn't 100% sure on having OCs or not having them but tbh, since canon characters are essentially going to be used as OCs-but-not it feels like it would be silly not to have them be allowed! OCs native to the world or from another canon world with their own 'canon' memories could be fun!

I think since characters are going to use their own canon faces I likely will have OCs be faceless/original art if you happen to have art of them? Faceless would just mean you use pretty pictures of aesthetic things if you don't have art of them. I don't intend for the site to require a thousand images anyway so!

ALSO RIGHT! I'm such a sucker for magic and fantasy being out there in the open mixing actively with mundane things!

But hey I'm glad you like the idea! I've always wanted to see a panfandom spirits done like this and also have it scratch my academy/college rp itch LOL.

Okay so this likely wont be terribly pretty until I come up with a cool interest check code for it? But I noticed a few people booping my post in QIC and thought I'd maybe detail my ideas a little more?

Basic stuff first though!
- Jcink hosted, it wont start with premium because I can't sustain it financially just yet
- Will use a premade skin that I purchased, at least until I can potentially commission one?
- No hard activity checks or expectations, instead I plan on doing a 'roll call' where people need only post to say 'hey still here!' and announce any dropped characters
- Likewise there wont be any word counts anywhere around the site
- Still unsure whether I'll do a profile app or a shipper app style? It'll depend on the skin I decide to use for it tbh.
- Will likely have a Discord server and a Cbox, again cbox wil depend on which skin I use!
**- I think maybe I'd allow literature and live action characters with the caveat that you have to use an illustrated image of them, whether that be fanart of your own art.
**- I might allow animal characters tentatively, but again, only if you can get your hands on humanoid fanart of them(or anthro? I'm still kind of kicking this around)

General information about the concept!
- Focus will be on animated and illustrated properties, video games, that sort of thing!
- I use the term 'animation personified' but there's a slight twist to it, characters will still use their animated selves, so if you're playing Sora you'll still use images of Sora. The personified/spirits concept comes in because you're essentially writing your character's backstory as though they've always lived in this world. They'll have a new name, new story, but the personality and face will stay true-ish to canon.
- Some of of the RP will take place in a small college town, but the bulk of it will take place in a not-Hogwarts(but definitely based on Hogwarts) magic school. I'm kind of toying with the idea that it's a school for way way more than magic.
- I think the world itself is going to be heavily based off of the world in Onward? Modern but with a really strong fantasy twist/
- Characters might retain their canon memories through dreams? It's less a 'transported into this world' scenario and more each character just woke up there as if from an incredibly vivid dream but as far as most characters know, they've always lived in that world.

I think an overarching plot might be fun, but I'm kind of honestly looking to build more of a slice of life sandbox style place to just shove characters together and get all your wildest headcanons out there.

** I'm kind of waffling on these concepts, I think they would be super fun and kind of open up to more people but I also know these things aren't for everyone, so I'm open to thoughts about these ideas!

Honestly I'm open for thoughts about all of this, this thread is more of a rough sketch of the idea than anything stable and set in stone!

What about a not-hogwarts magic school based animation personified-ISH site, and when I say 'ish' I mean it'd be the same vibe of a spirits site, except you'd still be using the characters animated Canon look?

How to explain...

Basically if you wanted to play Sora you would still visually play Sora but his name and backstory would be different, he'd still retain most of his original personality, you'd just have to give him a new story.

Toying with an 'canon life feels like it was a dream' scenario, but I haven't decided why they're there or if there even is a why...Still heavily thinking about this one so who onows

Ok, I keep having ideas for cute slice of life RPs lol.

Would anyone enjoy an Animal Crossing RP where you get to use the in-game villagers as face claims (keeping their name and general personality as well)? I love the designs of Animal Crossing villagers and some of them would do really well in an environment where they can have a fully unique personality and backstory.

YES PLEASE THIS SOUNDS SO FUN!

I'd like to thank John Jcink for making the age verification a single checkbox instead of making me put my whole ass birthday in there every...Single...Time, that was mighty cash money of you!

Okay so this is a slightly more out-there idea, but I'd love to try out a roleplay based on the 'Sun Vanished' ARG with some eldritch horror thrown in for spice. It would likely be a fairly small scale RP taking place in not even a whole city, more like a couple of apartment complexes and a few surrounding amenities? Really packed in as far as the setting to really encourage character interactions.

Story Pitch
The sun didn't come up, maybe your character was already awake watching with growing dread as the hours ticked by and it remained dark, maybe they woke to a black sky and just went back to sleep, only to wake up to panicked calls and missed messages. Within hours the internet is filled with questions and conspiracies, videos of the sky and people's clocks wondering what's going on. Word travels faster that way than through the news, but within a few days the radio stations begin chattering about it, before the first broadcast on a major news station said what everyone dreaded believing.

On the morning of [date to be decided], the sun never came up.

Overview
The point in time that the site would pick up at would be two weeks into the event, people are just starting to get brave and low on supplies enough to want to venture out of their apartments and into the streets, disappearances have happened but everyone is desperate enough to begin to ignore those fears, there's gossip about seeing things in the dark shadows where the city lights don't reach, or where power has been cut to conserve it where it's needed most, but most everyone dismisses it as just gossip and anxieties riding high. Essentially, most people know that something is going on, something bad, but not enough has happened for people to be too freaked out.

The plot would develop through story events that may involve the whole area or even just one apartment complex that would leave the other locations receiving the event through second-hand information IC, it would take some managing to keep metagaming to a minimum, but I think it would be a fun way to handle site-wide events?

Features

  • Jcink hosted, might become premium when I have the income to do that!
  • 3-2-3 Rated
  • Semi-future, I'm leaning at 2050ish or something? Distanced enough that it's mostly alt-earth timeline. But close enough that technology is mostly the same?
  • Setting starts out a smaller chunk of a larger city, a handful of large apartment complexes and a couple of amenities like a hospital and large grocery store and mall, a lot of these characters might know each other very well and I'd encourage having characters be connected in any small way. More of the city might open up eventually but to start with it will focus on a small community within.
  • The event is only two weeks before the starting point of the roleplay
  • Faceless claims? I'm really tempted to have everyone's graphics just be images that fit their character aesthetically and letting people use written descriptions instead because I dread having to keep up with a face claims list, but I'm open to other ideas tbh. If I do RL or Illustrated face claims they likely won't be heavily mandated or managed.
  • No word counts or strict activity needs, I might do roll calls where you only have to essentially say 'here!' and let everyone know if you're dropping or shelving a character? But there isn't a hard consequence for missing one or two as it'd mostly be for general upkeep and profile moving.

This is still very much an in-progress evolving idea, so I'm more than interested in seeing what other people might bring to the table as far as ideas thoughts about it! Please let me know I'm more than happy to hear from you!
