I feel an outlier when it comes to Natlan, because I only want Mavuika and Chasca, and have 0 interest in pulling the others.
I only wanted Kinich for his character and design. Mavuika is strictly because off-field Pyro application for Kinich that isn't cope Dehya or Thoma. I only started on the Mualani banner, but design-wise I don't find the Natlan characters too inspiring. (Would be 10x better if they weren't so pale.)

EDIT: Ororon too but he's a 4-star, not sure he counts. He's too adorable to skip.

Nabbed Ororon. \o/ I know Kinich and Ororon aren't exactly a BFF team since Kinich wants Burning and Ororon messes that up with Overloads, but I'm still having fun watching them hotswap around in Natlan.

Going for Ororon was a bit cheeky since I lost 50/50 and am locked in for Mavuika, but had to do it for our batboy.

Granted, your milk is no longer "a lil' spoiled", it is now completely and thoroughly spoiled and your domicile has become a health hazard.

I wish winter would stay away, I don't like the cold.

so like i guess i should clarify that my issue with ratings is: it really does feel like it's expected for your site to be 3-3-3 or you're restricting creativity,
In another stunning show of "Traveller is an impostor and doesn't belong here": I don't even know what 3-3-3 means lmao ;-;

Saw a homophobic acquaintance I hadn’t seen in months sporting a pride flag.

Apparently they had a run-in with a hate preacher and decided they didn’t want to be on that side.

what a time to be alive

I think ratings are nice to help guide potential members as to expectations, but if you have specific things you'd rather not see, it's fine to be specific and open about that. Just because you've rated your site such that someone could write something that raises your hackles, doesn't mean you have to accept it.

"BuT ThiS RatINg MeaNS"
No need to even discuss it. Simply let the member know you don't want that on your site, end of. If they try to argue, ban them. It's your site, you don't owe them an opportunity to write there.

@ the child character discussion.

I played a 10 year old on Hoenn about a year ago for another member. It was their son, and honestly? It was a lot of fun to write that little shitter. A lot of interesting family plots got to happy that wouldn't have if the character HADN'T been so young.

Definitely something that needs to be approached carefully, but idk - limiting it seems weird to me.
I quite agree (shock!). I didn't feel comfortable being the only one to talk in favour when everyone else seems so overwhelmingly against, but I don't really get the false equivalence of saying, "It's fine to have a childish character, they don't have to be a child!"

No, of course. But there's a difference in how you come across if you are a 15-year-old acting childishly, an 18-year-old acting childishly, and a 35-year-old acting childishly. A 15-year-old character experiencing their first love will come across different from a 35-year-old experiencing first love. You don't look down on a 15-year-old for crying his eyes out because he missed the release date for a new game that came out and now he has to *GASP* play it a day later! But if an adult did that, well, that certainly comes across different!

It just feels like a shame to limit characters because you prefer to wield the base assumption that people are bad-faith actors over trusting other roleplayers to be mature people. Someone pointed out we're all getting up there in age, and plenty are now in the 30+ range. So it just seems a bit...disappointing to me that we then say, "Okay, everyone might be older now, but we can't trust you to understand what is and is not appropriate to write about."

it is genuinely disgusting the way you have to scroll through 50 blue check bot replies on any moderately viral tweet
tbh the sooner X dies the better

Pokémon franchise that's about 12-year-old kids travelling the world with monsters in tow: totally fine.
Pokémon-inspired RP sites: hol' up, adult characters only.

snipped
Honestly, I think the issue with this on RP sites is exactly that: the age. Personally, I do not feel comfortable writing a minor on an RP site or seeing a minor of that age RPed (I work in education and specifically with this age group). In my head, there's a difference between a video game that might be getting played for nostalgia or maybe a first time where you can suspend your disbelief of the protag's age (which is supposed to be you) versus actively writing in a community that is naturally leaning towards being the age of 21+ with many RPers being close (me included) or in their 30s now, so I understand why adults would steer clear of all the possible issues that could crop up.

I'm actually quite curious there, if you'll indulge me. Can you articulate what's uncomfortable about it for you? I don't think there's anything wrong with people writing younger characters--after all, many books featuring young characters are written by adults. So on this case, I have some trouble understanding why it's an issue or concern.

I like writing teenage characters, as I enjoy the more emotional volatility that comes with being young, and I enjoy the bildungsroman genre, so most of the stories I want to tell are like that too.

All the sites denying me that have always made me wonder if I'm unwittingly running afoul of some understanding shared by others but sadly not me.

I'd be happy to learn why this is a concern in the roleplay community.

my personal favorite is when sites will straight up just tell you that you can't write certain characters or subjects at all.
Pokémon franchise that's about 12-year-old kids travelling the world with monsters in tow: totally fine.
Pokémon-inspired RP sites: hol' up, adult characters only.

:'D

Like, I'm fine with site owners exercising their right to dictate what they don't want to see on their site, but likewise I just don't join if site rules contain instructions on what characters to write, what perspective to use, or how many words I need at minimum. Even if I wanted to write a 21-year-old college student in a third-person past-tense omniscient narrator perspective with 1200-word missives, sorry, I'm out.

I like feeling free to write what I want within the confines of the setting, in the way I want. It's not like anyone'll put a gun to someone's head and force them to write with characters, writing styles, or post lengths they don't like.

this sounds cool!
i have a question! can we create an eldritch being in a human body? (you don't know how much i wanna write a character like this...)
I (currently, with no signs otherwise) intend for there to be "people" (for lack of a better word, I guess) that are completely consumed by Harmont that are capable of things like this, yes.
Colour me interested like a rainbow.

Yeah gonna pass on the new Dragon Age. Everything I've seen has me -_-
It's kinda wild that some reviewers praise the combat system and others hate it. It's either the best combat system in recent ages, 10/10, amazing...or it's some dreadful mediocre experience, best consigned to the easy difficulty rating, 2/10 just give me story.

What up, reviewers.

What if I developed a hyperfixation for a remarkably niche piece of media that is nigh impossible to find translated content for

unless...?
Sounds like you need to hyperfixate on learning the language.
