I've got a hurricane in my head, I can't feel a thing, but it's better than dead
I do still believe that upholding those baseline rules and guidelines is important, but I have virtually none on my public site as is, and it confuses so many people lol. "Can I... Can I even do this????" "Isn't it too much??" Nah fam, we good. Have fun bye. Though there is an opposite effect too when there's just not quite enough structure to things because literally the whole site is built around member plots rather than a site plot and sometimes it brings up "but why?" lol. oh well.

My other sites though, I'm way more strict about, because the plot and timelines are very important and things in that world are really developed. It really depends on overall vibe I think. I want members to be comfortable talking to me and asking me questions. I want staff to feel comfortable explaining lore and upholding rules. I want people to get along and plan things and have fun.

i'd like to think that the line between staff and community on my own sites is really thin. i don't really sit apart from any other member, not when they have to put up with my constant stream of dumb shit lol

possessiveness seems to be a really big thing in the community too. as much as we try to not do it. certain characters we cling to or the rp partners that we really enjoy writing with become big parts of our emotional selves too, and its normal to be kind of jealous when those characters and their players spend more time with others than with you, but that is not quite the same as possessiveness. i've seen super toxic possessive behavior, been a victim of it myself in the past. it happens. more commonly when ships are involved. but i see it less and less these days as the community grows up i think. most of us are older and not anywhere close to our teen years anymore and the possessiveness kind of fades. we're more interested in making friends and having fun in a drama free space now i think lol

we actually just had to do this on ours because I was getting super overwhelmed with everything and wasn't quite happy in my admin space. There are other projects that I want to work on and write in more than the major one we're doing, and it took a lot out of me to do as much as I have been, on top of all of the irl stresses. Moving forward though, the rest of the staff team has picked back up on the slack a little and I'm getting back into writing rather than planning which is nice.

^ reading the above.

People need to learn how to separate IC and OOC. People in general have a tendency to argue. Why can't characters? Humans are capable of both true good and absolute evil, so why can't characters? If you(generic) can't find people that you can absolutely war against in threads and still talk about getting pizza or something outside of it, then they're not worth writing with. People have to respect boundaries, and you've got to set them. Your characters do not. Characters can do whatever they like, as long as it's not against the overall rules of the site.

I am glad you found a place where you can write again and enjoy writing again. It can be really hard sometimes. though this is much less a staff confession as much as it is just a normal rp confession I think...
