...dentists canceled my appointment and pushed it back another two weeks... because my insurance is being slow in approving things. why the heck is dental insurance separate from health insurance anyway? who came up with this stupid system?

I haven't written in forever, but my fiance asked for a short story between our old characters for her birthday, so I tried to start it last night. I don't even remember writing this, since I was delirious with pain and sleepiness, but I kind of like it a lot? 

The parched earth cracked under his boots, grey dust and splinters of what was once a forest. Some twisted remnants of trees remained, jutting from the ground like the shattered bones of a colossal beast, bleached white and bare of leaves. It was a sobering reminder of what theyโ€™d lost - what they still had left to lose.

It was also fucking annoying to sneak through.
