I know on our site, we tag @ everyone at least four times during an activity check. We also send out one preliminary site wide email, as well as a reminder during the last few days. If you don’t post in the actual activity check, we assume that means you’ve seen all six reminders and decided that the site is no longer for you/extenuating circumstances have made you unable to come back.

i feel it, i have the @ everyone function turned off in all my servers. but the highlighting is still there, and the little white dot that tells me there’s announcements. shrug.

i have a specific @ members role in my server so if someone's got @ everyone turned off they're still gonna see the monthly updates/AC call. granted i realize ppl can mute all role mentions as well but i feel like that's a less common practice, so typically no one can say they didn't see the notif! protects my butt as a staffer.

and a staffing confession... i'm not a staff yet but i dread the character pending process. i know with the genre of rp i'll be making (west marches-style 5e game) i will have to do it a lot because character sheets are terrible u__u but i don't like it! i dislike the confrontation... either being told no or telling someone no. it sucks. it's the worst... but a necessary evil i think

i was just thinking today that i feel as though, with all this advertisement discussion, no one has really brought up the fact that there's not really a dedicated tumblr blog allowing animanga sites to advertise. off the top of my head there is the jcink tinder blog, but that only caters to jcink hosted sites and primarily seems to be based on RL faceclaim sites.

i think it would be worth gathering a team to set up the blog + tags, and maybe an affiliates section, as from personal experience in running ZZ we have a lot of transplants from tumblr who have gotten to the forum by word-of-mouth on twitter. imagine if there was a dedicated ad space there! i think it would hold true for OC rp as well.

this post requires a bit of context, the tl;dr is that ZZ is having a maze event where participants have formed teams, and sephiroth, beatrice, and tohru adachi have formed the most chaotic evil team in the world, beato got her voice taken away by the staff npcs for being an annoying brat, and sephiroth just shanked adachi to test out beato's magic... and this is what she had to say to him:

beatrice stretches and yawns comically, cracking her knuckles and her back as she snaps her fingers, causing a letter to appear in the air and smack sephiroth in the face. "really? that's all you've got? you need to spice it up a bit! cut him up into tiny pieces! lop his head off! get creative! don't worry though. i see potential in you for villainy."

i totally forgot to post some con photos! this was kind of our test run-- there's so much i'd do differently with the makeup i don't even know where to begin (more contour lmaoooo)-- it was a bigger convention BUT there was more of a focus on guests and less on cosplay (think comic con.) this upcoming weekend we test our mettle at a decently sized anime convention at the costume competition so... fun? (it's the homestucks that are getting judged. don't @ me cringe culture is dead.)
