My least liked characters so far, Catherine and Ingrid. The other thing I disliked about the game was the way the time skip happens. It was too unsatisfying and leaves too many questions. I like the idea of a timeskip overall but wish it was handled better.

Trapped us in the shadow realm and caused Sothis to use all of her powers to get us out would be when the timeskip is? Like it would've been more believable to me if they did that and throw in a line about how time flows differently there.

Despite that, FE3H is my current favorite fe game because they did so good with the plot and characters overall. Monastery is lacking in activities but if they included more I feel like all the old school fans would get really upset at it so they tried to go light on it?

Also, what is up with that sauna? Incoming dlc? Removed content late in development? I want to know.

INGRID. i forgot about ingrid. i think from what i know i'm not going to like her either unfortunatelyyyy but i will withhold judgement until i've played the route proper.

as a kingdom hearts fan who is constantly dealing with garbage where time flows differently between realms i totally thought that was when the timeskip would happen too. that whole thing actually makes even less sense on crimson flowers because at least in the other routes byleth is yeeted into some sort of deep crevasse never to be seen again, but in the BE-CF route we don't see that happen and it's not even clear... what occurs? edelgard (and i think hubert if memory serves properly) tell byleth to get out of the way and then it cuts to black. like i was so confused... because from the sound cues it sounds like byleth is trapped under rubble? but then everyones like WOW WE LOOKED EVERYWHERE ESPECIALLY EDELGARD SHES VERY GAY, PROFESSOR and moving some rocks shouldn't be too hard yall. and then byleth wakes up in a river so that's even more "how'd she get there"

idk. it's weird but it's especially weird there and i know it's probably because on most routes twsitd is involved in byleth being gone and they're your allies on BE but like. just have rhea-dragon cause byleth to go blasting off again. problem solved. anyway rant over.

i think it's my favorite fe as well... fe7, awakening, and echoes still hold near and dear places to my heart tho.

also yes i guarantee the sauna is for that beach dlc because they always gotta have it! (and it's gotta be at a sauna and not a beach otherwise edelgard would never go she's too scared of the ocean)

And uh... I ONLY recuited Felix from blue lions for my crimson flowers run and uh... had him kill like 5 of the BL people and uhhhhhhhhhhh.

It was pain. I cried for like 30 minutes, over just Felix killing Sylvain.

see i did the opposite. i had sylvain kill felix. i had him kill ingrid too. i did this with several other characters that i recruited too. had marianne and lysithea take out their old pals.

i know, i know. i'm a monster. but i want to see the special dialogue.

OKAY SKJDFNDLSKJFN SO i am on golden deer route rn and black eagles (empire path) was my first route. i do know a fair bit about the blue lions despite not having played the route yet although some things are still a mystery to me regarding motivations... but given that reading all the lore in the library really makes you able to understand all three lords regardless of first route picked i think i have a pretty good idea. i know edelgard is really Controversial(tm) to put it lightly, but i love a complicated woman. she's lelouch but a girl i love that her and dimitri are both departures from your typical fire emblem lord archetypes-- both of them can just as easily be the protagonist as they can be an antagonist. it's something we really haven't seen in a long time (really not since micaiah tbh) and i welcome the discussion their philosophies bring so long as it doesn't devolve into name calling and pettiness ahaha.

claude is probably the closest to your traditional lord archetype in that he's just an all around good guy but even then he's still a departure in some aspects (a bow lord!) and i really, really enjoy him as well. i really love all three of the lords and they're incredibly complex characters, which is great because then byleth as a semi-silent protagonist honestly wouldn't work.

as for characters i don't like it also... kind of comes down to leonie, for me. her B support is especially ill timed (and those that know what i'm talking about-- you know what i'm talking about. it's rude.) i do like lysithea though, i think her supports with edelgard really get down to why she's rude (why both of them are rude sdjkfdsl) plus shes like. the death knight's worst enemy. want that dark seal? bring/recruit lysithea. dark spikes takes him out instantly. i saw a tweet that was like "it's like she's got a delete button in her tome" and i cannot stop thinking abt it.

my faves are still very much so most of the black eagles tho bc baby's first house... i was so set that i wasn't going to like hubert or ferdinand. but i'm booboo the fool. i think they're in my second and third favorites in that house (although honestly everyone gives them a run for their money at some point.) i love edelgard's shoulder devil and shoulder angel. i didn't recruit too many outside my house for my first run-- got sylvain, marianne, and lysithea. i wish i had nabbed felix tho, apparently he has some really great dialogue for the crimson flowers route which makes sense given he's one of the only characters who is like "dimitri uhhhh needs therapy stat" prior to the timeskip (even tho. it's not phrased. like that. it's meaner. thanks sasuke von fireemblem.)

my oooooooone complaint with the game is that the pre-timeskip being the same for each route does make it a bit of a slog. i suppose that's to be suspected for how much of behemoth this game is. actually i lied my second complaint is that crimson flowers deserved an animated reunion cutscene and should have been as long as azure moon and verdant wind. justice for miss hresvelg. that is all,

that's good! tbh one of the hardest things as staff to learn is when it's time to take off the kiddie gloves and be stern. i think everyone that staffs still struggles with it to an extent.

it can definitely be difficult to put your foot down when it comes to other staff (especially if they're friends and the warning signs have been something you've repeatedly hoped would improve.) do it too harshly (even if it's a necessary bluntness), and the whole site can come crashing down, which is an experience i've been in before and it's very unpleasant. even when they're not rude though and are just flat out shirking their duties it's rough though. i... admittedly have a similar case of where i post important information in the staff chat so my other staffers can familiarize themselves with the rules and a couple of them are just in complete radio silence. i know i should probably give them an ultimatum, but i think i'll ask how life is treating them first.

i hope things go better though! since it's early on it shouldn't crash and burn things. c:

i really enjoy being a part of this fanzine, i do, but i can't wait until it's over. writing fic is one thing but writing it under the pressure of being published is something entirely different.

tbh i think that's really the only way to go about having something that's plot/conflict free? since even if you handwave the "everyone kind of got teleported here" in your lore and don't make it a big thing, there's absolutely characters that are going to take beef with that and want to go home. having an AU slice of life setting where everyone is forced to make their canon characters adhere to the setting could work too but that's also not everyone's cup of tea.

pharaoh leap funny you should ask that, i have a musicals/rock opera expert on staff for this very purpose! my caveat is basically "well is there art? go for it" because i will admit to just not liking the RL/animanga fc split in panfandom because it's harder to imagine them coexisting... but with art that goes away in my head, at least. oh dang really? maybe i've just been out of the game for a while (been doing ocs only for two years now) but i definitely agree it's a lot more fun, even if it's a little more chaotic, to allow different canon points wherever.

i think the reason my first run of three houses is taking so long is because i don't want it to end. i don't want to play with the other kids i just want to stare at edelgard's face for forever. i have caught the edelgay. it's terminal.

honestly, this would be my biggest concern for it from a member perspective and a staff perspective. because like. i have been around more than a few fandoms, so i know some people would just. "oh someone has sasuke from naruto already? i'll just take him from like. three chapters earlier, it's fine." narrator voice "and it would not be fine."

i think the rule of thumb would more or less have to be that characters would have to have some kind of significant change to their backstory or motivation or other characterization to do this (as an example, taking a mcu!spiderman versus taking a spiderverse!spiderman or even an avengers!cap versus an infinity-war!cap or a civil-war!cap). but even then i know i would be wary as a member for if i don't want someone able to do that with my character (i have done too much time on tumblr so i'd be wary of any anxiety from duplicates or drama resulting because "so-and-so plays a better sasuke than you do!" or "you play a much better kirito than so-and-so does!"), but on the flip side, i know i wouldn't envy the poor staff at the inevitable whining over how "why can't i have xyz character, i really want them, this is a site where i can play duplicates!" because i just. know it would happen.


on a slightly related site i would like to see, personally, i would love to see a panfandom where you can take individual characters from different canon points. because listen. i want to watch mid-canon ed elric's joy at being able to hug a post-canon alphonse or maes hughes' utter confusion over being bear hugged by a post-canon roy mustang who won't let go of him. and i want to thread out pre-nibelheim sephiroth getting his rear end kicked by a post-game cloud strife while mid-crisis-core zack fair tries to stop him before all the advent-children remnants stop him so they can watch their fake-dad get beat up by a tiny chocobo. please just. just let me have this. i want it so badly. with every fiber of my being. please.

oh absolutely at this-- allowing someone to just take a taken character from a chapter earlier is what i wouldn't allow. that just causes hurt feelings especially since panfandom has a propensity for... let's say petty arguments? of "well i think character X is like this and any other interpretations are invalid and you're awful." canon doubles have to have a valid reason for existing. things i would allow would be the different link incarnations, male vs. female player character doubles (e.g. f!robin and m!robin can exist on a board), young xehanort vs. master xehanort (since their canon allows for them to be in the same room at the same time.)

i don't think i've ever been in a panfandom rp where the canon points HAVE to be most current though? that's always been part of the fun for me: having characters from different points in the series interact. (and is something i'll be allowing on ZZ obviously.) nothing is more fun than having your character break the bad news to another that they dead. they super dead.

Like instead of allowing only one Naruto Uzumaki from either OG series, Shippuden, or Boruto, the sites allows all three to exist as different characters by different rpers.

This may get tricky to mod but I'd just like to read about the potential plot shenanigans that would ensue.

zugzwang will be allowing canon doubles in some circumstances, e.g. if we had a bunch of different people who wanted to play link across different zelda games they would be allowed to, or fbyleth and mbyleth from different routes in three houses. i'd probably have to think about the scenario your describing but our rule of thumb will be to ask the person who already has the character you'd like to double in play (because communication is always good.)

also i know i have talked a lot of talk about zz here JKSDNLFSJK but it's finally picking up again, hardest part was making a leveling/tiering system for gaining powers or memories back that wasn't unfair to rpg characters with 10,000,000 things while still being fair to those that have practically nothing.
