I think many people here are old-fogies in the space and have many different aged partners and the like when it comes to the rp.

I have some who are from 20-30+ - and I noticed no single person technically has wildly different things that we expect in our friend groups - which is like in total probably 30 people or so. However, we all have a borderline list of wants for long term writing partners - IC/OOC difference (So no living vicariously through your characters (outside of like job we think would want to have), the characters are not real and do not make their own decisions so therefore we're not at fault, someone's character insults ours, we don't take offense, etc) - reading comprehension, plotting (or not plotting but only with not plotters if that's your game), profiles vs no profiles, communication, etc - and these never overlap with partners that don't share this set of traits in the shorter term partners we have.

I know everyone's not like my knitting group of old aunties and like I wouldn't want there to be but I just had an epiphany cause a old woman took me to her zoom book club since one of them was having cancer treatment and an old woman hit me over the head over the internet to say what I said above as "some people want tacos and some people want coffee and it's cause some of us get the s---'s with tacos - you're making this way too complicated." and I am feeling attacked with this description of rp partners.

how do I make a wanted ad where it'll be honest with my boundaries but open enough for possibilities.

by this I mean some things I feel like I should say cause it's important to me, but also I feel like I'm going to sound pedantic.

I've probably said this before, but I really want to explore more long-term and slow-burn plots. The trick is finding patient and dedicated writing partners who are willing to hold out long enough for them to... well, go somewhere, ahaha. They feel like a precious gem or rare flower nowadays!

I am one of those people and it's always like "do I spend five years telling a story or do I hit myself with a paper fan anime style and write a 2m word fanfic" and so far the fanfic has won but I do hope there's more people who would like telling those types of stories.

I think I also had the same problem being on the spectrum myself, but I'm also getting better at managing my boundaries and being more open with it. Could I have stopped more misunderstandings, maybe - but considering misunderstandings are so commonplace even today over some things that just aren't straightforward sometimes, it's a learning experience even now really. I walked into a misunderstanding just recently and while everyone assures me that I didn't miss anything, I still have to wonder did I.

imo.. with more sites being on jcink now, it does seem counterintuitive that our base community is on a pb platform. if we want more people trying out coding,,, then the answer is obvious. community-wise then it’s not my place to say. idk if i’m even qualified to write tutorials and stuff since i’m not super good at those hot aesthetics, but… given a choice, i’d rather eat a bullet over doing a step by step guide @ pb for a simple template.

I know a lot of people say this but animanga isn't the only group that uses this resource forum. A lot of proboards mainly centered content still uses P2. A lot of sites even on PB still link to and use it. I understand that people get frustrated (Honestly I get frustrated myself of hearing it or seeing it since well, I have offered time and time again to skin, admin, etc a site and that always gets dropped no matter how much people decry this platform- which btw thank you for the offer, I have tested around with your code and it was very well done and I would use it should anyone take me up on this offer to skin something better) but this is a tried and true issue that the site has always run into.

I get that people certainly have their like of both or one of the platforms. I get that some people vehemently hate PB - but I am seeking to consolidate and bring new life to each platform and bolster the community and am not here to hate on one or the other. If people would like to work with me, reach out to me! I promise despite the 800 people who think I have teeth for eyeballs, I assure you, I am more afraid of you than you are of me.

I want to help *so freaking bad* but I also have no idea what I'm doing. I feel like people really don't know what to really write for or do. Side note cause I'm staff and I can do what I want, would anyone be interested if I wrote a thread about what tutorials people could want in the community would be and people could take that up to write about it or something? I mean I don't mind making this a little event/forum what have you, that could not only get more than one tutorial, but one I could also pin at the top and add to as time goes on and we get more resources - with explanations. We could also link outside to fizzyelf and jcodes and stuff, though I would like the main stuff to happen here- and just link out to those resources?

I see a lot of the time there's 'no jcink option' when I have tried over and over again to create one and people aren't able to fund or do them with me, and stuff like that. Even though there's no jcink option, there's a reason there has never been a lasting jcink option. I feel like we're mushrooms and until there's fertile land to grow into one's self, it just won't happen. I do have a skin/concept I could one day actually put up for grabs/help with but I need to actually know people want to join it before I spend 900 hours on a board mod I will never use because I don't hate myself that much, thanks.

I think one of the issues with light/dark skins is cause people think it's an attack on something they purchased or made. I don't think it's wrong to want a toggle - however for a lot of admins they aren't coders. They think it's super hard to do a toggle therefore some get defensive about it. I can't do light skins for long - so I offer where I go to code it myself. I think if there was more of a DIY type of situation for it (such as teaching people here, I'm bad at teaching through threads though) people would feel more comfortable. There are accessibility tools out there (I have a lot installed on my own browser for my lizard brain and eyes) - it's something I see in RL skins a lot and I think should move to animanga more often.

To be honest, the less people code, the more the either want something completely off the wall or fear changing a single variable. There is no inbetween and that's why people just thrust coders into positions. I think graphic/coding admins need to make a comeback tho.
