Site Interest Check

Inspired by Solo Leveling, Dislyte, Lone Necromancer, Your Name, BOFURI

[Site Name] is going to be a modern day sci-fi fantasy RP page. Taking inspiration from franchises such as Solo Leveling, Lone Necromancer and Dislyte. There will be reality warping events, eldritch horrors, the beloved ‘system’ screens and much more. [Site Name] will have something akin to a ranking system to calculate power progression, but without the use of calculating actual stats and numbers. This means that power use will be freeform, following a loose guideline of what is possible which is detailed in a basic ranking guide or within the power itself.
[break][break]
The world will start when these new powers begin to awaken, where Earth has been gamified into various zones with dangerous creatures running rampant. Staff will make unique powers for all new characters with the opportunity to acquire new items and such through events and shops. Where were you during the Mass Awakening? What were you doing? Whether you’re a student fighting out of a school that got turned into a dungeon, or thrust into a deadly game of ‘King of the Hill’ in your own apartment complex. The beginning will be dangerous for everyone, but the rest can be up to you to decide. [break][break]
Exploring the world as we know it will uncover truths that reveal Earth is far more than just 'a game'. But this is something we will take part in as a community.
[break][break]

premise

[Site Name] takes place on our very own Earth, it is mundane, dying and the future is dull. We are growing stagnant as a species, and dreams of the fantastical will only ever be that - dreams. [break][break]

Until The Light came. Scientists named it The Light That Crosses Worlds, an extraterrestrial phenomenon that made no logical sense. A collection of giant meteors travelling through the cosmos at unnatural speeds, defying the laws of physics. Its destination? Earth. [break][break]

It hit us. At least, that’s what people remember... But here people stand, alive and well, going about their lives as usual. There was no proof that The Light ever hit - no crater, no footage, just the memory of catcalysm in everyone’s minds. But after that ‘event’, the world seemed to flourish again. [break][break]

A continuous ascension, advancing the body, mind and soul of all living organisms on Earth. It wasn’t noticed at first, initially thought to just be the sole doing of humans and science. But when scientists starting pushing the boundaries of what was real, the world started to awaken further. And it wasn’t our doing this time.[break][break]

Monoliths began to rise from the depths of Earth, bringing with it an unknown power. Shortly after this, everyone would find themselves greeted with a screen before them, with a message from our very own ‘Earth’. [break][break]

I’m So0Rry :<<
[break]

A mass awakening of supernatural powers and abilities have begun, with strange systems being put in place much like that of a video game. Humans are thrust into a Tutorial Phase where they must fight against dangerous creatures and unknown threats in order to strengthen themselves and stay alive. The beginning will be apocalyptic, everywhere experiencing the struggle of monster hordes and boss fights in order to pass the testing phase.

Powers and Stats

As this is more of a litrpg rather than an RP with stats like DND, there will still need to be some sort of guideline for use of powers and abilities. Although the staff made powers will try to include all the information you need on how to use it appropriately, there will also be a guide to refer to with what is capable across ranks F to S+ etc. [break][break]

There will be various currencies. ‘Coins’ you can gain from missions that can be used to purchase items in the shop. XP that is gained automatically through posting and completing threads, which will be used to level up. This site will focus on the acquiring of new powers and enhancing skills unique to the character, while also focussing on the roleplay and story that the world takes place in. Taking inspiration from Solo Leveling and Lone Necromancer, gaining experience and leveling up will be an exciting process that rewards story involvement whether it be combat, survival, rebuilding safe zones, socialising or helping the community. [break][break]

An idea is that power development will be fluid and slightly malleable. Although staff will create it based on a theme, you can influence how it progresses based on the stats you’ve allocated. Parts of the power may be locked when initially made, and when you achieve a high enough level, the rest will be added to fit with the attributes you’ve strengthened for your character.[break][break]

There will also be a System Attention thread, where you can draw attention to certain aspects in your threads no matter what they be, and request that staff grant some kind of achievement/ reward based on your actions. For example, if you had just endured multiple poison attacks and still remained standing, the system might reward you with poison resistance for future threads.[break]

The World

Although Earth had advanced in the quiet years after The Light struck, the Mass Awakening and rise of the monoliths have caused our neo-futuristic technology to go haywire. Although some of it is functional, it seems the system has decided what works and what doesnt. In some cases, the system has altered technology to be far more advanced than before. [break][break]
Speaking of the Earth as a whole, it seems our planet has been able to rewrite reality to some degree, not only being able to enhance the organisms of the planet with supernatural gifts, but also reshape space how it sees fit. You may find pocket dimensions, MTG Kamigawa inspired Tokyo, deserts that turn to oceans at night, skyscrapers that never seem to end, gotchic cities from Bloodborne, the list goes on and on. This fractured and reshaping Earth will create interesting environments to explore, whimisical and dangerous. Don't worry about travel and interacting with other players, as Earth has set up 'waypoints' to quickly move from one place to another - a 'Fast Travel' feature if you will. [break][break]
Some areas will be marked as safe zones, others will vary in danger with a high risk/ high reward function. If members would prefer to not engage in fighting, they could work on rebuilding societies and towns and start their own Safe Zone. A lot of these functions can be bought from the shop, or created solely through RP.

It sounds sooo cool! I think there are various ways of doing this, either giving a few options of classes to choose from in character creation, then letting the player make up their own skills with shop purposes. Or the player chooses their own class and some skills, but the site relies heavily on staff distributing rewards through missions etc.

I think what appeals to me most is the achievements and acquiring random skills based on literally anything (kind of like Bofuri). For example, how fun would it be to do a social where you're messing around and then staff post an achievement where, idk, you get a healing skill with your food since you spent most of the social cooking. Or maybe you spend a thread hunting a specific species of monster, and gain a skill reflecting that.

Even getting site members to make the requests themselves of what they've done and what kind of skill/ achievement they're hoping to gain from it. A bit of work from both the staff team and RPers will go a long way.

I think it's doable as an RP site, it is just a lot of work on staff with events and rewards etc. Low-key tempted to start writing some systems and ideas for the future, making a site is definitely something I've always wanted to do.

What I'm really happy about is that the way Solo Leveling ended is a similar concept I had written before I read this, so I could come up with a different and unique story but following the same 'system'. ^^
So I’ve been thinking of this idea a bit more and came up with a general system that would mimic the Solo Leveling/ Solo Necromancer system.

Stats
There would need to be stats. I’d say these can be based simply on popular RPGs. (Strength, Dexterity, Agility, Health Points, Stamina Points, Magic Points, etc…) You’d get a certain # to allocate at the start between them Character Classes would also determine what some of these starts as. At each level, you get like +1 or 2 points to put into stats. That way, not every stat will be maxed out and the numbers are low.

Classes
Characters will create their own generic class that will be based on either: Tank, DPS, or Support. The three main archetypes will mainly deal with what sort of skills you can make and how many HP, SP, and MP points you start with/gain while leveling up. Many players might share the same name of Character Classes but how they build them and use that class may vary greatly. Do not get too bogged down by Character Classes, they are more for flavor and an understanding for others on what you are going within your build.

Skills
When starting, each player would auto make 1-3 skills. Skills range from E grade to S grade. All skills auto-start at E grade and have to be leveled up over time to S grade. The number of skills would be limited. Types of skills could be Offensive, Defensive, Support, Hinder, and Other. Keeping how skills work pretty open but with some rules. Like if an E rank spell buffs by +1 maybe S rank buffs by +5 or something. Like the ranks between skills definitely improve as you go up but not to the point that it’s too OP.

Lone Necromancer has this ability where they allow for the merging of skills with each other to make a new more powerful skill, something that could be mimicked too. Not too sure how this would work out but it could be a really cool feature.

Setting
After reading the Lone Necromancer, I loved the idea that the whole world becomes a game and regions are locked from each other. So maybe as the site starts there are only a few neighborhoods in cities throughout the world. Like a place in North America, Europe, and Asia. So each group kind of gets their own mini world for a period of time before regions start to unlock. Technology will all shut down, with items that can turn them back on as the site progresses. Items would have to be staff-made and regulated.

Same concept as skills, the items can be combined to make new and creative versions of themselves. Would be a cool feature.

Lone Necromancer rocks, I really like the setting of the world being zoned off and every day areas becoming dungeons or safe zones etc. I think it's maybe a bit too chaotic to start off a site like that, so keeping some semblance of normal life and regular areas would help immensely.

I think stats should be very minimal, going up each level but at a very steady rate. It gives players more progress and a wider range of strength across the site. It's also nice when there are multiple stat types so every character is different, but too many types of stats might be complicated.

That also ties in with skills and class, like which stat effects which skill, and if these are going to be made by the RPer or be heavily modded by staff. Personally, I think it would be cool for the player to provide a base to work on, which staff then reward with extra bonuses that the player doesn't necessarily have complete choice of (very much like the 'systems'). I also think it would be nice to make everyone start with 1 skill, putting them into situations that test them and their survival skills.

I had ideas of stats being a loose guide, with the custom skills and abilities being freeform. It could be up to the RPer which stats are utilised with each skill (within reason). This would get rid of the limitations and usual understanding of 'mages are physically weak', 'tanks are slow' etc. Which would make characters more interesting and better suited to surviving/ exploring!

I feel like the only issue this would be is that you'd have to have staff make like 20 different classes with their own skills already premade. Or think of some alternative way to reflect the class system that series uses.

True.

Either that or have generic class categories and give people to make the freedom to name their class within that category and already have basic skills like you said.  future skills or etc. could be gained via events/shops but ya it would require a lot of thought and work to simplify it for rp.

i also have invested in Hardcore Leveling Warrior webtoon while LN is on off days and its very very deep into the storyline so i'm still catching up.  starts off sorta surface bare, but picks up and gets deeper and deeper.

it would be exciting and new to see a Isekai RP but i definitely acknowledge it would be a huge undertaking
