tbh i don't read apps unless i'm:

a.) wanting to thread/plot with the character
b.) the app writer wants to thread/plot with me
c.) the character looks litty from the threads i've lurked & i'm just genuinely curious

in case b.) if they've written a Novel it might take a while for me to get back to them...like, yeah, this is a reading hobby, but sometimes the contents of an app just aren't fun to read! i put books down when they aren't fun, i feel the same way about apps. the character can be Incredible and Totally to my taste and in every thread they are characterized so godly-well that i'm just obsessed but then the app is like, "here are 100k words of my blorbo stubbing their toe in varying situations!" and i'm going "where the fuck is the tl;dr??"

i'm saying this as someone who has probably (definitely? definitely.) written apps that aren't fun to parse. like i love love Love my purple poetic metaphorical prose that's just vaguely aesthetic + writing in second person + i've sometimes drafted very long, rambling apps when i get deep into a muse. that's fine. and i'd never fault someone for not wanting to read it, or just wanting me to outright tell them what's what.

if the thread:
- impacts site plot/has a chance to ripple to other people's characters (like killing off the site playboy, i dunno)
- has tangible, long-lasting effects on my own character (getting an arm lopped off or whatever)
then i consider it "high stakes"

1. utena ~ 12/10 art direction/plot/characters/theming/etc. etc. etc.
felt like it was made for Me specifically.

2. kare kano ~ just goated. the comedy's nice & i like how the main relationship develops. mc's not a boring doormat either.

kaiba ~ made me cry a few times, so it's good. plus i love cyberpunk and body horror.

bochi ~ fun animation. good gags.

psycho pass ~ the world building was great & i love akane and watching akane's ideals get akane into trouble 

bonus

carried by the wind ~ idk it's funny. plus the mc's a handsome woman (& i love those)

...actually i really like gunslinger girl & pmmm too. picking just five is hard orz

1. state craft. so rp'ing like...taxation and the nitty gritty of running things. 
it's fun in ck3 but i don't want to write it out or discuss it at length tbh i'd rather it be hand-waved

2. really intensely introspective threads/conflicts that could ultimately be solved through therapy or a good heart-to-heart. the former's because my writing style doesn't lend to it well & the latter's because uh...i don't know. but i've always hated that trope where someone overhears a conversation & misinterprets it and instead of asking any party involved about it they angst for a million chapters so maybe it's related to that

for male/female characters:
pretty/elegant/feminine
long hair (usually white)
bold eye colors so i can abuse the saturation slider/color selection when i make gfx. red's always fun.
favorite fcs in this category have been uhh rosa & gladiia from arknights

for female specifically: i like writing andro/masc women.
sooo fcs that hit that androgynous/gender blender vibe work well for me too (think arlecchino, kenma, oberon who i've yet to actually use but as soon as a proper site opens i will... :clenching fist:). but i also like women who look kinda feral? e.g. fairy knight **tristian, most arknights girlies...selen tatsuki with the right artist. there's this one blonde fgo woman i can't think of right now, but she definitely counts. etc.
