I had an observation the other day, but my own rp circle is insanely small. I haven't really been a member places in a long time... BUT back in the day- I don't recall there being a ton of natural disaster type events on sites. I haven't seen things like fires or floods or earthquakes, etc. carried out as like site wide events that everyone is affected by or have to band together in order to survive. I don't mean like apocalyptic style world-ending events, but just run of the mill bad weather. Has anyone done this sort of thing like, recently? Would you/would you not? Why?
I'm on a post-apocalyptic warrior cats site that just opened at the beginning of March. I know you said apocalyptic stuff didn't "count" but the vibe here is the cats aren't particularly aware of the gravity of their situation (i.e. why all the humans fled). Our staff-run events do feature a lot of natural disasters (one big volcano eruption, earthquakes, etc...) when they aren't Lovecraftian eldritch abominations crawling from the crevasses that said natural disasters should have never cracked open, of course. I enjoy it; the event signups are open to all so you can't really control who your characters are out with, which encourages writing with a lot of different people.

ppl hate the most boring books. wow, you hate sarah j maas? wow. do you want a cookie for your opinion? did you just pick it because women like it? i know you did. wow. so brave. hating romance is so vogue.

like come on, pick a fight with a respected white cishet male author in a way that actually engages with the text. i promise you my 3 hour ramble about why i would go to hell just to knife fight Ray Bradbury is more interesting than the 3000th youtube takedown of Fourth Wing.
my secret hot take that i don't share all over the internet bc fanboys be wildin is that i find brandon sanderson overrated. the only series i've ever quit on after finishing the first book was mistborn lol. i just don't see what others see in his writing ig

I like stats if and when they make sense. For instance I'm on a site now with PVP combat where both characters generally want to win their fights and the outcomes of the fights have narrative implications for every character on the site. It just makes more sense to leave it up to hard numbers + dice rolls rather than putting the onus on the players to make these decisions. (Carl is equally unkind to all of us)

I write in the post box itself wherever I can. If I'm doing a bio or something I want to keep for later, I just use the basic textedit app on my computer.

If I'm on the go, I just use my phone's default notes app. But that's mostly just snippets and broad outlines for things I want to include in the post. I couldn't stand doing an entire post on my phone lol

Bios are the literal worst for me. I just go full head-empty no-thoughts mode when it comes to articulating my characters. I know they're important but my characters exist in my head as just vibes, not words. T_T
