Summary: Riot Calls is an upcoming animanga steampunk crime roleplay that highlights the massive imbalance of the rich and the poor; the privileged and the oppressed, and separates who’s strong enough to live in a classist society filled with corrupted authorities and a city of constant crime, and who’ll be left in the dust to crumble. It'll also focus on the inequalities that mutants (and humans too based on their social class, but mainly mutants since they're the majority population of the site) face on a daily basis and the racial tensions that come with it. Riot Calls aims to explore the lives of characters affected by what the city molded and how they shape the city. In this world, you either win or the city wins. And the city will always win.

Location: Riot Calls will be located in a retrofuturistic city called Rockland, a city advertised, on the surface, as a utopia with how achieved technology and science have become. It's considered to be the "trendsetter city" as cities across the nation and even the globe try to mimic the success that Rockland had. With its vibrant colors and high tech, what can go wrong? In reality, people suffer from the abusive power that authorities hold and, of course, the racial tensions that come with it.

Races: Yes there will be two major races: Humans and Mutants. Humans are, well, humans. Mutants are basically people that don't look human and have some form of physical abnormalities that aren't at all common in humans (like having fur, a tail, so on and so forth). Because Humans are the majority population (53% human and 47% mutant), racial tensions are high take a shot of how many times I mention racial tensions.

Magic: Can't be fantasy without a little fantasy! Magic has helped shaped technology to what it is now, but it's completely optional for your character to not have magic. There will be three types of magical classes to choose from: natural (elemental), mental, and physical. You can only have one magical class. Magic can also be used to fuel up your tech, so whether it's armor or a weapon, magic can be your alternative source for power.

Ranks: This is very debatable, but ranks of how powerful your characters may be is a possibility; just to give people motivation to get stronger and a clear idea of what a character can or can't do depending on their ranks in terms of attacks and other abilities. The Natural magic class is pretty easy to scale, but not sure about mental and physical.

Inventory: Characters will have their own inventories of weapons, gadgets, and techniques that they can use, in the events that they'd rather rely on that than magic (or if they can't access magic at all). Characters can also customize themselves with retro implants that can boost their physical performance or otherwise (e.g. hacking)

Social Class: Social Class and overall who you are matters in Rockland. While it may not be a big factor into making a name for yourself, whether you're rich or dirt poor, your status can either help you or can be used against you.

Groups: Because there'll be a variety of factions to choose from, there will be a total of 4 groups that'll categorize them based on the common interests they have: Authority (the government, police force, etc. Anything that has power over Rockland), Syndicate (Gang), Civilian (self-explanatory) and Corporation (the corporations that produce these techs).

Other:

- Jcink (possibly premium, given the nature of the site)
- Animanga faces, but I'm very willing to let anything drawn pass as well as CGI, so as long as it fits into a more anime style than anything realistic looking.
- Profile apps, only because the skin I have is convenient for it.

Final Notes:

Overall, I want to explore the more political side of things along with how corporations rule with an iron fist while the government would ask "how high" when they ask them to jump; how characters live out their daily lives in a setting where crime is very rampant and infested with gangs; and most importantly, see if they can survive a city chewing them and spitting them out. The reason why I went with steampunk than cyberpunk because I feel it's a rather underrated genre that deserves all the love (plus the retrofuturistic aesthetic is just  ) However, I'm more than willing to switch to cyberpunk if that's what the majority wants :eyes: And that's because this was originally more cyberpunk than steampunk lol

I'm just about halfway done with this project and wanted to see if there was any interest. I'll be posting updates as the site's completion progresses Any feedback and questions are more than welcomed! <3

Alright so I know this was called Surrender The Throne in the title but I actually meant Riot Calls since I lowkey made a title switch last minute, but thanks for not pointing it out to avoid the eternal cringe that crept through my body lol

On a serious note, a lot of progress have been made on the site so I'm going to keep this brief! Most of the guidebook for the site is done; mainly lore information is complete and the guide to creating characters is complete. The skin is up and I'm formatting most of what's done from the guidebook onto the site. The boards, claims, and most factions are left to be completed.

There are a few things I've decided to remove and add from and to the site:

- The biggest one would be magic. For the time being, only natural/elemental magic will be allowed to use. Since I've decided to go with ranks, natural magic is the only easy and straight to the point attribute that can be scaled properly to the ranks.

- There's also a new member group that'd complement the site's overall premise: Academy! There'll be a 4-year academy dedicated to raising the next generation of powerful natural users to defending their country (and only for that cause)

I want to again thank those that've shown interest in this idea and can't wait for things to get going once everything is ready! When I'm done setting up the site and make sure everything is presentable, I'll be leaving a link to the Discord server for those that want to take a look at the site right before we're officially open. That way, people can get a feel for the site and, hopefully, join to get started on their characters (or you can PM me for the site's link)!
