arknights ...
but also a panfandom site for original characters...? like, characters people have written from various depreciated sites/their own, personal canon [bc i'm surely not the sole roleplayer that obsessively crafts little universes in their daydreams and unfinished gdoc drafts), idk
panfandom for original characters seems like a v fun idea

I just want to give everyone who has ever staffed a site a big thank you and a pat on the back, cause God knows it isn't easy - from putting your heart out there into writing and creating a site from scratch, to watching things fall apart into shambles a few months later, to having to pick yourself up and keep going - there are so many emotions involved in this whole run, whether it is coming up with an original site, or running a panfandom. It doesn't really matter.

Thank you for giving creativity a chance, for putting time and effort into this hobby that we all find ourselves gravitating to and for putting up with so many different people - it's a difficult, thankless job. It's hard to get it right. I know I make a few errors of judgement, not just once or twice, but often enough. It's difficult to put in the time when you're busy in real life, stressed in real life and then come home to something that is equally stressful, to an extent where I know it has affected a person's mental health at times.

I feel like this is kind of hard to relate to unless you've staffed a site yourself - and I think until I went through it myself, I didn't truly appreciate what a lot of people have been doing to the extent that I do now.

Don't give up, just keep going and write about what you truly love.

It's hard; to balance your real life commitments and writing. There's so much happening, the pressure is real and when you're responsible for the lives of two hundred families, I often wonder should I still be investing time into what I love to do? It's a bummer when either of them - writing or work commitments stress you out and cause you to take it out on the other.

But surely there should be some balance - would retiring from RP actually give me happiness? I'm not sure.

Just a random thought

I think it's easier said than done, but while a site is definitely an expression of what you like and your creativity as an admin and almost 99% of the time really CLOSE to your heart, creating a forum where we open that genre to everyone means that we need to aim for at least a certain component of our members to enjoy it, get invested and well, be happy?

This doesn't mean having to feel the pressure to please everyone - I think it's more, letting go of the whole 'this is my site' to 'this is OUR site'. It's definitely difficult to do; maybe it feels thankless sometimes, but a little thing the team and I do is we remember why we created the site -

We wanted EVERYONE to enjoy this world we've created!

It's a great feeling tbh, and it really clears your mind when it comes to a lot of stuff.
