we don't exactly have kami that turn human, but we do have tennin / vessels that have essences of the gods! also, yes, regular humans do have magic and can perform supernatural feats.

[attr="class","deepforest-h1"]information
FUKAI MORI is an upcoming high fantasy, original roleplay inspired by feudal Japan, which aims to provide an immersive experience in a world plagued by the prospect of magical warfare and the constant struggle to assert dominance over the land. We wanted to gauge interest for the genre.

The site is near completion with most of the lore and systems ready. We are aiming to open up for beta testing in June with the goal of getting some constructive feedback so we can create the best roleplaying experience for everyone involved.

It is inspired by various feudal and edo era anime like Inuyasha, Demon Slayer, Yasuke, some aspects of Studio Ghibli and Rurouni Kenshin. Please reach out to me through private messages, on Discord at vayu#6806, or post below in this thread if you’re interested and we will send across invitations when everything is ready.

[attr="class","deepforest-h1"]premise
The land of Mori was once a peaceful and prosperous place. the gods had risen from chaos and put it together painstakingly, but now, things have changed. The nation is divided amongst two races who are fighting for survival. As yokai and humans tear the world apart in their desire to emerge as the supreme race, there are bigger dangers that loom in the background.

Who will emerge as the victor?

Mori is a peninsula that extends off into the Hikai Sea. Pristine golden beaches line the coastlines with the Tensan Myaku mountain range to the north and yokai infested waters that lock it away from the outside world. The citizens are embroiled in a number of skirmishes, clan politics, and a seemingly endless fight for survival.

[attr="class","deepforest-h1"]conclusion
Members will be able to write yokai, half-yokai, vessels for kami, or humans; writing into their personal goals or immerse themselves in the over-arching site plot. While it is not mandatory to participate in the war or other events as we have set up a variety of plot hooks for each faction and sub-faction to support different styles of play.

As a special feature, for those who might be too busy to dedicate themselves to a site or would like to try an alternative, there will be a roleplay server on Discord which will run side by side with the site as a separate experience.

If you have any questions for us about the site, please don't hesitate to ask! We will answer all of them as best as we can.

i kind of want a site where everyone just has one ooc account and no ic accounts... like you have multiple brief character profiles on one account and you can make/retire characters whenever you feel like it... idk maybe i'm just burned out on all the upkeep and upfront investment of apping new characters

hi, I'm going to be doing something similar soon, so if you're interested, drop me a message!

That is understandable. It's easy for threads to get derailed and that certainly isn't OP's fault. The opinions people have stated is also valid and there are indeed toxic or unsavory people in the community.

However, if **all** of these people are indeed toxic, then they also lack self-awareness and will remain clueless about their actions even when vaguely called out through these posts. These sort of posts on a resource site (where people can identify names and sites) affects the admins who ran the site more than the cliques they're talking about.

To say the entire RP experience or site was toxic based on a few members is more likely to hurt the confidence of someone who took the risk to create a site for your entertainment, rather than the rotten few who ruined the experience for some. They're accomplishing nothing positive or bettering the community by doing this. Simply put, it just ain't nice, man.
Unfortunately any thread that invites criticism will hurt someone's feelings somewhere.

A site isn't just the physical site though. It's the community that lives in it. A site and its community have control over each other and it is limited sometimes but staffing is about nurturing and pruning the community too. And based on the comments in this thread it seems like a large amount of the time someone leaves is because they don't connect with that community. And that is extremely valuable information for anyone who plans to run a site, so I think the thread is serving its purpose.

So long as people try to be respectful here I think it is worthwhile for them to be honest and worthwhile for anyone who had been in a position to do something about it to contemplate, did I enable this? What could I have done better?

tl;dr it may not be nice but as long as it's not treated as an absolute and instead as people's opinions, it is valid.
I agree with stallas on so many levels; I understand how much effort it takes to make a site, in fact, even if I haven't had the best experiences on one or two, I still hold them as benchmarks in terms of various parameters - the depth of lore written out, the design, the way they engaged with communities and I always take away the positives.

I don't think most people are referring to physical sites in that thread; the community is an essential part of a site. When you join a site, they might feel cliquey / non inclusive because a lot of people have been writing together for many years. It depends on the person, and unless they're specific, we wouldn't know if its because they couldn't break into a friend circle, or if they actually were victims of some sort of toxicity.

For site owners and creators who this bothers that much, to an extent where it's affecting your confidence, why don't you drop them a message? Ask them. Ask people who leave your sites as to why they left, and only ask if you're willing to listen to the feedback. Remember that you don't ave to react to it. It doesn't have to align with the vision of your site, it doesn't have to always be worked upon, but perhaps it can be used as tool in the future.

I feel though, that when the word toxic is used, there is no judgement on the efforts of the staff, but it does mean certain members / sections of the
community. I don't believe that the thread can be used to make people who do not understand the consequences of their actions (or perhaps, do not care) change, or reflect, but rather, it might connect people who have had similar experiences and it can even make the community grow closer through that process of sharing what happened to them.

You will always find people who are mature enough to move on from things, or to understand that site =/= community, that there are two sides to every story, and there will be people who are forgiving. There are also people who aren't - but such is life. If they aren't posting it here, it's not as if people don't know about it.

just to conclude; what said about remembering that the thread is about people's opinions and not absolute - everyone is entitled to their opinion. remember, the thread literally says - reasons i left, and people don't leave a site only because real life kept them busy or because they lost muse on a personal level. this is collaborative writing - it has a social aspect, and where humans interact, there is often conflict.
