She’d always been taught not to take any shit from anyone, though she figured that Haneul wouldn’t be particularly impressed to hear that she had gutted someone for looking up her skirt. Daehyun would be, though

"At least this time -I got detention- for defendin' someone's honor and not for tossin' a kid into a trash can and kickin' it down the stairs." He shrugged his shoulders a bit like that was no big deal and totally not something he had done just earlier that week.

this post snippet is literally from last year but i found it again and liked it a lot

The hall was quieter as the tennin of Izaken walked into the banquet hall. Behold, the champion of humanity. A living avatar of divine love, and a painful memory for multiple people in the room. A commitment to memory. A vow to vigilance.

They had only given one instruction to the tailor: that they wanted to be seen. Mankind will have its representative, and they would not shy away from yokai eyes. For the sun-child was light itself.

Jun walked steadily in a kimono patterned with white cherry blossoms upon deep blue silk. A brilliant golden peacock spread its elaborate tail feathers along the tennin’s firm, immovable posture. Golden kanzashi ornaments outlined the edges of their hair. The tailor had sewn the kimono as if the kami had possessed him, as if this would be his last great masterpiece. For what other piece would possibly be fit to adorn the shoulders of a godling?

The tennin did not beckon to anyone in particular, but walked as if they were the very center of all the attention currently present in the room. For even as one turns their face away from the sun, they are subject to its unblinking radiance. Jun’s poise and mannerisms were calm, but they were meant to imply power.

One of the musicians had stopped playing mid-tune.

"There's no frog."

A statement that seemed a little redundant because there very much was a frog right there in the dish, dead and splayed out to be dissected. But again, Yuki insisted there was no frog. "It is just connective tissue, bone. What makes a frog, but not a frog itself." That was one way to look at it.

No one really knew Yuki well enough to understand the inner workings of his devious little brain, but someone was about to find out. Or many someones in this case. He glanced over towards Rei again, taking in just how uncomfortable they looked. He did a quick scan around the room, and since only a few people had started, it was as good of a time as any.

It started with a simple twitch. Yuki feigned his innocence, giving it a curious look. Another little jerk here or there. Some of his classmates raised their hands. He looked over towards them, pretending he had no idea what the buzz in the class was about. That was good enough, wasn't it? At least until some girl screamed. Her frog had flipped over and hopped along the table.

Some boys were giggling about it, saying something about how unlucky that was, and then they too yelled as their frog also came to life and hopped at one of their faces. Yuki had to just sit there and avoid laughing while the kid screamed to get it off over and over again. And then came the gasp from beside him as their frog started to slowly stretch it's legs and turn over. "I lied." Yuki said quietly. "I guess there is a frog."

take it easy.

this isn't my last post but i liked it:

Corpse is said with a gravitas it does not deserve from someone like Miette, who has created enough corpses for a graveyard. Still. He's gotta be dramatic.

This had always been his life. This was how he came into it, and this was how it stayed, wasn't it? Except now there was one major difference.

He was human.

where fears and lies melt away.
Deoxys prowled the moonlight city of Sootopolis. Pulling fictitious strings, it manipulated stolen skin like a puppeteer. One foot in front of the other, head forward, arms swaying at its side. The human performance is nearly flawless.

Nearly.

Each step came with a pencil's straightness and the sound of a thud. Slight inconsistencies amplified by the ocean's distance in its eyes, turning warning whispers to loud alarms. Unnatural, alien - the bell rang to anyone able to hear.

With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world.
Placing the recorder back into his pocket, he took a small bow. "I hope that was to your liking," he said, though there was a pained look in his eyes that was sympathetic to her suffering.

Her question caused him to tilt his head. "Oh, don't worry about it, Dora! This has nothing to do with your brother, he said to keep it anonymous and that you'll just know know!"

Her phone fell silent after a few moments, and with it, Erin. Her thoughts were suddenly a fresh jumble, like her favorite pasta just out of the strainer.

The amused laughter that broke on the other end was unmistakably English, and it grated on Daehyun’s nerves far more than it should have.
β€œDon’t tell me you lost her again after I went through all of that trouble to find her.”
”Don’t fuck with me, Hawk. Can you do it or not?”
β€œDon’t underestimate my people finding skills, Daehyun-ssi. I think I know exactly where she is right now, in fact.” What better person, after all, to track down someone than their childhood friend. β€œAnd in terms of your location being compromised… you may want to check in with your former leader in SPEAR.”

(Ow, ouch, okay, maybe try not to run so fast because holy shit that stab wound was still hurting.)

context: someone just got back from world-traversing shenanigans and yet here he is again, rushing to another scene not too long after. Clearly there is still adrenaline in his system!

Slateport. The third worst place in all of Hoenn. Beaten out by Lilycove and Sootopolis for second and first, respectively. All three shared the same stale, sulphury smell Killian loathed. A nostril-burning scent worsened by the wind.

Tonight, in this city of putrid aromas where dreams go to die, pieces moved on a board. Pawns and knights pushed into place against a king unaware of the game.
