With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world.
No work of art is universally loved, but I think it's up to each person to determine what counts as a friend and what doesn't. In any hobby, it's natural to not be close to everyone, and that's totally okay! I've met quite a few people in the RP community throughout the years irl, and my experience has normally been it's like meeting with an old friend, but I know that's not everyone's experience.

In all, though it used to be something that would make me think to step back and evaluate relationships, at the same time, I don't put as many expectations into friendship either. I'll give you back what you give to me, and I'll communicate as much as you would give to me. RP is something that I see potential in making meaningful relationships in because it's been one of my longtime hobbies and I'd made close friends through it, but I wouldn't sweat it if I don't get close to people either.

I had just finished all about love by bell hooks, and though I have some critiques for it, it was still a good read with some things that I'd like to take to heart that really hit me.

“But many of us seek community solely to escape the fear of being alone. Knowing how to be solitary is central to the art of loving. When we can be alone, we can be with others without using them as a means of escape.”

“To return to love, to get the love we always wanted but never had, to have the love we want but are not prepared to give, we seek romantic relationships. We believe these relationships, more than any other, will rescue and redeem us. True love does have the power to redeem but only if we are ready for redemption. Love saves us only if we want to be saved.”

"Imagine how much easier it would be for us to learn how to love if we began with a shared definition. The word "love" is most often defined as a noun, yet all the more astute theorists of love acknowledge that we would all love better if we used it as a verb. I spent years searching for a meaningful definition of the word "love," and was deeply relieved when I found one in psychiatrist M. Scott Peck's classic self-help book The Road Less Traveled, first published in 1978. Echoing the work of Erich Fromm, he defines love as "the will to extend one's self for the purpose of nurturing one's own or another's spiritual growth." Explaining further, he continues, "Love is as love does. Love is an act of will-namely, both an intention and an action. Will also implies choice. We do not have to love. We choose to love." Since the choice must be made to nurture growth, this definition counters the more widely accepted assumption that we love instinctually."

- himbo trying their best, means well, but like Serena van der Woodsen, has a tendency to make a mess and not pick up the pieces. bonus points if we're playing the prodigal prince trope. hopelessly devoted to whoever their partner is.

- girlboss with expectations piled up upon them, their role is to have their shit together in the face of everything else not quite having their shit together

- hopeless romantic girl next door with an independent streak

- emotionally constipated

- emotionally diarrheal

- like no in between between these two

- chaos agents

- Paris Hilton. Bonus points when I get to write war general Paris Hilton.

But she might not write back to me for a long time—

But okay sometimes I do get self-indulgent and like reading what I wrote. Plus I know what tropes really appeal to me ahgioeawphi

unrelated to the other discussions what do people use to make like. worldbuilding maps and stuff. i have the artistic brain of a peanut and i really don't just want to take japan's honshu island and rearrange it
So I used to use Inkarnate for maps! inkarnate.com/

Fully customizable, easy to use stamp tools, and I love that you could even design cities and villages with it. I'd used it for DND campaigns as well when making interiors.

if i brought back the old project 100x35 tumblr, would people actually use it?
With what feels like will be a wave of new sites with all these interest checks, I think it would be a splendid idea! Especially as sites are developing, they could keep the dimensions in mind as they skin.

Just finished watching the kdrama Hierarchy and hrghrghrgh as much as I know it isn't the best and I definitely have a couple things that make me roll my eyes, it really made me miss writing and reading messy drama. If you were a fan of Gossip Girl, this scratched the itch.
