Preluding Lights takes place in a canon-diverged timeline of Arknights, meaning it takes place on the planet of Terra. Terra is a planet not dissimilar to ours. It has carbon-based life forms, oxygen, and even gravity!

What sets the world of Terra apart from ours is the existence of magic in the form of Originium Arts, magic borrowed from the energy of the mineral of its namesake, Originium. All Terrans have a natural ability to manipulate Arts, and many people are capable of even basic forms of Arts.

Arknights characters have similar features to us humans, but there are a few key differences. Characters can range from having small animal characteristics (ears, tails, etc.) to being full-on anthropomorphic. Most of these races are called Ancients.

Terra is a science fiction, dystopian society with elements of high fantasy. There are also chances here on Preluding Lights to play out your slice-of-life fantasies, but make no mistake: this is a story about war.

Hello, we still exist... I think? Well, here's a little about us the ones that forgot what our mission was!

We are an OC-only Arknights roleplay on JCINK PREMIUM set in an alternate timeline where Rhodes Island failed to stop the war between Ursus and Yan from starting.

Although we primarily focus on Arknights and its story, we strive to be an open and welcoming community to all sorts of people. This means that everyone is welcome, even if you do not play Arknights! We are also a site that's plot is member-driven, meaning your character's actions have every bit of importance in the plot. You know what they say about the ripple effect, right?

The staff has taken great care in condensing all lore into bite-size pieces for you to enjoy, and we have also done most of the heavy legwork in terms of researching Arknights. If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

the features


  • Factions Although we will allow you to create a character aligned with any faction, the main four factions of Preluding Lights are: the Ursus Imperial Army, the Imperial Guards of Yan, the Reunion movement, and Rhodes Island. Each character will have to choose between these four primary factions, as in our world, where your loyalties lay is extremely important.
  • Rating System Based on your character's combat experience, you will receive a "rarity rating" for the character in question. Much like Arknights, the number of stars your character can receive will range from 2 stars to 6 stars. This is entirely up to you and staff have no say in the rating.
  • Statless Our site, aside from the statistics you decide to put in as per our custom profile fields, is completely statless. There will be no rolling of the dice, no relying on staff intervention. All we ask is that you communicate with your partners about everything you plan on doing in a thread. Godmodding is not allowed, under any circumstances.
  • Various Races All Ancients are playable here on Preluding Lights. This includes those of the Elder variety. You are free to take liberty on what kind of Ancient your character is, what they derive from, and everything about it! We just ask that you be somewhat realistic, that is all.
