i keep breaking stuff lmao

last week, i broke production at my main job with a bad line in our server config. it was fixed within an hour.

this week, i broke a freelance client's email server because i updated DNS and didn't realize they had email associated with that domain. that took two days for them to notice, and one day for me to fix.

what shall i break next? how much money shall i cost everyone??

just saw a post on tumblr from a jcink skin creator who lost all of their code for commissions and premades on scratchpad.

idk who needs to hear this, but online html/css editors are not an acceptable place to store code. they're for testing a concept or sharing examples. if you start something there, make sure you copy it to somewhere permanent.

but honestly, use version control. github has free private repos -- just push your shit up there, it's safe, it's private, it's not going to disappear if you accidentally clear your browser storage. you need to know fewer than ten terminal commands to be effective at it.

or, idk, save the files on your computer? like...

my beautiful parlor palm got a spider mite infestation 😩 we had to throw it away, there were too many little leaves to clean them off manually. i'm devastated, it didn't deserve this fate.

this is the worst. one time i was fairly drunk and was about to put a tray of grilled hamburger patties in the oven to broil-melt cheese over the top (didn't want cheese in the grill), and i f'in dumped it! i managed to recover all four hamburgers (2/4 fell on the oven rack and the other two stayed on the sheet pan), but it basically ruined my night lmao

i'm always afraid that i'm going to dump a lasagna or some other laborious dish. i would cry.
