me, in standup: "i'm just finishing up documentation today and tomorrow."
product person: "great, can you share the link to that when you're done?"
me, exasperated: "well, i was planning on keeping it to myself, but since you asked..."

too spicy? 🤔

When you build someone a really nice, detailed theme — stressing yourself out over it for months — and then they disappear Q_Q

has anyone else noticed some really alarming margin discrepancies on chrome browsers?

all coding margins are suddenly very messed up for me but other people are seeing them fine and i am alarmed
Any chance it's an extension you're running?

How did you know?
Cause mine does the same thing 😂 It's because of the Retina screen. If you make everything 2x the original size, 100% seems more like 100%, and the image looks more clear.

I used to be such a huge scaredy cat - any horror story, really, that could hold up under its own weight had me tossing and turning up all night - and then I... no joke, just watched this half-joke video about this person coming to the realization that most things, even horror, just aren't actually that scary, had my own mini epiphany, and now stuff that used to give me the heeby jeebies just doesn't anymore. That's not me bragging. Honestly, it kinda stinks, because now I'm out here looking for horror stories that will actually scare me at all and finding absolutely nothing, sdjklfhkjfhdskjfhskfh. If you have any recommendations, please do send them my way, I am in DESPERATION.

The Woman in Black (with Daniel Radcliffe) scared the bejesus out of me for like, two years. The Grudge is also a bad time.

It looks like you're using the Board Description Images plugin:

www.proboards.com/library/plugins/item/112

This plugin requires a specific layout to work:

  1. A board item that begins with #board-
  2. A .main element that is a child of #board-
  3. A .description element that is a child of .main

For example:

<div id="$[board.content_id]" class="$[board.content_class]">
 ...
 <div class="main">
   <p class="link">$[board]</p>
   <p class="description">$[board.description]</p>
 </div>
</div>

You can move the board image once it exists, but it will never be added in the first place without the right structure. Does that make sense? Here is an example of the script I use to move the board image once it's been placed by the plugin.

I also noticed that you're using a script to block right-click, F12, and "save as". I heavily discourage this practice because some users rely on right-click to activate screen readers or other assistive technologies, which you have now blocked them from. This is bad user experience and is considered malicious behavior within the web accessibility community. I recognize that you'd like to protect your code/images/etc. from theft, but please understand that this is not possible. Any resource called on the front-end can be accessed by the user. I still got into the code of your forum to see what was missing in your HTML, literally just by going to Chrome > View > Developer > Developer Tools; most web-savvy people know how to do this without keyboard shortcuts. You're really only hurting your users who have disabilities. I apologize if I sound terse, but I really want to drive home that this is considered bad practice.

Three dogs following you all day can get very tiring when all of them want your attention all at once.
ngl this is kinda great for me. What's not great is when three dogs are trying to get into the dishwasher as you're loading it, and then you try to close it but they still have their noses in there and you're like, "you're gonna get smushed" but they don't listen because they're dogs so you have to pull them away and then quickly close it before they can do it again.

We're down one dog now, though. She passed away a couple months ago, but she was 16 and had a good life. Now there are just two dogs following me around and putting their noses in the dishwasher.

I'm commissioning a skin for a site I'm gonna be working on and I dunno what's asking for too much and like, what's not detailed enough. And I'm realizing I'm like this whenever I commissioning anything from anyone. I have a specific idea in mind but I don't wanna overwhelm the person either.

Maybe I'm stressing about it too much, I dunno. I just don't wanna be a bad or 'that' customer I guess.
tbh as a theme creator who has taken many commissions, I definitely prefer more details. Sometimes people are too loose with their requirements thinking that I'll "have fun with it", but that actually makes the project more difficult. I like when there are specific needs that I can meet; it's easier to be creative with direction. There are also those people who don't provide enough information, then turn around and say, "Ah, I was hoping for something else..." which negates the work you've done. Hate that.

If the person you're commissioning knows what's up, they'll tell you when your request is too much or not possible. You can also let them know that you value their expertise and welcome any changes they might prefer to make. So imo, yes, details are a good thing.
