I don't except for crop/resize/rotate

I'm not an artist. If I wanted to do art, I'd go find an art hobby instead of a writing hobby.

The only time I'd consider it is if the claim vs my envisioning of the character is perfect except for specific nonhuman features. (like editing out a claim's nonhuman ears on a human oc) Even then, it's not so much that I'm unhappy with that specific piece of art as I'm "editing" the claim itself.

people: editing your pfps in photoshop is just as much art stealing as ai is

me, who just crops and sometimes resizes in ms paint:

(ime, rehosting with credit, i.e. a direct link to where the artist is hosting the art, is no different than sharing a link to the artist's page on discord saying "hey, friends, check out this cool art." it's just more steps to display the art in the proper template size or w/e)

The hard part of this imo is
50% managing to stick with a site (or having the site live long enough) to undergo multi-thread arcs with other people's characters
50% finding a template that looks nice, isn't a pain in the ass to update, and doesn't break

Playlists and moodboards never did much for me honestly, probably because I'm not a very "aesthetic" person irl.

I love answering short headcanon prompts, including the meta ones like "how did you come up with your character's name?"

Drabbles can be fun when I'm in a headspace to write them.

Organizational charts, relationship webs, and timelines are also fun, and help me keep very involved backstories straight.

If I could get away with making Tvtropes pages for my OCs...

basic windows notepad only. I write the post and then c+p it to forum and edit in all the formatting there

rping on pb in a site that cared about word counts but also allowed fancy templates killed my desire to ever post on-site again. too much clutter & inaccurate wc meant I had to transfer over to a third party window anyway, so why take the risk of site hiccups / accidentally hitting the back button to begin with

I started on pb but now prefer jc for a variety of reasons, some of which have been stated, but some of which haven't:

-tagging is so much more convenient on jc because you just @[the display name], no need to remember what username they signed up as
-also easier to change your mind about a character name mid wip instead of being shackled to a username on sign up
-easier to switch between linked accounts
-the feature to switch account poster, or post as any account linked to your parent, saves a lot of hassle on rps that require account-per-character
-webpage maker for a site guidebook is much more convenient than having to flip through a ton of individual threads
-I don't even like [m] threads but I curse and do the violence a lot, I'm sorry
-more customizable with unlimited plugins
-pb preview mode breaks so many codes that it might as well not even be there, and I have to manually switch from preview to code default for every new account I make

The one pb feature I honestly prefer is recent posts/recent threads that isn't default limited to the past 2 days.

i don't think well-written women are all that rare in works that are actually well-written.

sometimes i wonder if bad female characters are more a symptom of bad writing, period, because i can't think of a single series with badly written women that i would consider well-written otherwise.

after consultation with a few friends, my submission is "Remembrance of Earth's Past" by Cixin Liu

lmao "pleasing graphics" the most you're getting out of me is a crop and maybe a slight rotate in MS Paint

I do this hobby because I like writing. if I wanted to do art, I'd go find an art hobby instead.

That said my confession is I like fcs because I really hate writing (and lbr, reading) physical descriptions, I'd rather just be able to instantly grok what a character looks like and never have to bring it up again in the rp itself. Picture > 1000 words and all that.
