Kinda interested in this one just because of that certain character of mine that I made a site search for--- see my signature. Would you be okay with a Spirit becoming human, much like Cole in Inquisition? I once tried making Rhyme in a Dragon Age site as a spirit that copied the appearance of a Tevinter mage that rebelled against their hierarchy or something >.> On the other hand, maybe I'm trying too much to find a place for him, and my ideas are probably too outlandish for Dragon Age...
I think he'd work fine, I mean, if Cole was a thing he couldn't possibly be the ONLY spirit like that? ALSO thanks so much for everyone's support! I'm hopefully gonna kick up a server for this after the holidays, so everyone who's interested can join that! :D

Yasss. All the drama from free mages! Hahaha.

Which, actually, brings to mind another question. What about the elves? -- I'm sadly new to the games..having just played Origins for the first time earlier this year, and DA2 and Inquisition for the first time a few months ago...And all on the 360, so I can't get Trespasser, but I spoiled enough of it for myself to get the gist of what happens with Solas. -- I'm presuming that whatever threat he posed has passed by the point that the r.p. would take place? BUT. Did his threat create an even harder hit for human/elf relations? If so: has any of that died down by the time the r.p. takes place? -- Will there be other changes to elven society to consider? Perhaps others like Abelas and his people being revealed? (Or did they disappear/pass with the Solas threat??)
I haven't 100% finished Inquisition(working on it) but after kind of researching and looking into things, I THINK I'm going to have human-elven relations be VERY shaky, I mean more so than they already were. The threat HAS passed but the lingering shadows has badly damaged already terrible relations. The mages KIND OF get a break, but I can't be nice to everyone, right? ;)

ALSO I might hit you up! I'm completely new to Jcink and while I THINK I can figure it out, it'll be nice to have someone I can poke if something goes awry!

That's an excellent question! I'm proooobably gonna finally free the mages, I feel like that has the potential to open up more avenues for drama because y'know, not everyone is going to be happy about this, there will be people who cling so desperately to the old ways, veterans who were once Templars, just general mage hating asshats, mages are free but they still undoubtedly face hardships because some people cling way too desperately to the past.

I love mages too much to shove them all back in the circles, plus I feel like it'll paint a much more interesting history and story to give them freedom.

Also you're questions are 100% fine! I like getting them and they bring up good stuff!

So normally I don't say much, but..all of your reasons for chafing against existing DA rps are the same reasons that I chafe against them. (Especially the 'real life faces only' one, because they tend to be canon, and tbh I can't imagine any of my favorite DA canons as faced by some celebrity who doesn't even remotely look like them.)

Aside from that..I do have a question, though? Just how far in the future are you thinking? Because one of the major draws of the games for me/the thing that always made me want to r.p. in the world (and I may be alone in this) is the medieval-esque vibe of the games.

You have no idea how much of a comfort it is to me that I'm not the only one who feels that way about it! Like I've said before I have nothing against people who do prefer RL faces, not at all, it's just not my cuppa' in a setting that comes from something that's NOT real life faces in the source material. Plus...Like I gotta do SOMETHING with all the screenshots of my dumb pretty elf boys!

ALSO to answer your second question, it's definitely still going to be that vibe! I'd never dream of taking the dragon age out of Dragon Age! When I say far into the future I just mean to the point where most canon characters are retired or passed away. I mainly wanna focus on OCs and their place in the world, and an easy way to do this to me is to set it after their time has come and gone, the heroes are old and taking the rest they deserve, and the newer generations are now at the forefront shaping the world. But the setting and vibe will absolutely still be deep in the medieval-esque fantasy! So no worries there! :D

This is essentially me putting up an official interest check for something I had an idea for, at least the vague making of an idea, to see what people might want to see in a forum of this type.

I LOVE Dragon Age, the world, the design, the characters, the politics. I've always kind of had a huuuuge hankering to RP in this world, use some of the many dozens of characters that I've made and played in the various games. I just, I always seem to chafe against most existing Dragon Age forums for several reasons, they're mostly personal, but still reasons!:

- They're almost ALWAYS real life face claims only, which, in a setting where most people's characters have faces created on a character creation engine, feels kind of pointless. The games already have a touch of realism in the style? Why real life ONLY?

- They always rely HEAVILY on canon, take place sometime in the midst of canon, or rely on canon characters from the series. While I love canons as much as the next person, obviously, it's difficult to make OCs feel important when everything relies on pre-determined history. It's also not very newbie friendly!

- Everything is always incredibly complicated, application process, available information, plot. While a long plot is great for a world you've built yourself, when a lot of it is provided, it can be intimidating.

My goal for this forum would be simple, and I have a list of a few things that I personally think might make it fun, and a bit unique:
- Mixed face claims, you can use real life, game screenshots from Dragon Age or other CGI sources, the only requirement is that the source has some air of realism. You can even draw your own, just again, try and keep it to at least semi-realism stylistically. I feel that this opens the forum up for people who might not feel comfortable with RL face claims, but also caters to people who DO like them and enjoy consistency.

- AU setting, or perhaps a setting far into the future away from any of the canon stories. Most canon characters would be dead or assumed retired, the story then belongs to OCs to shape and write as they desire. Perhaps a corrupt man or woman seizes power and turns the tides against the righteous? That will be up to players and staff, with major plots and arcs cleared and approved by staff. This allows for OCs to be a part of world-altering events, but also allows for some control in how they are implemented.

- Relatively relaxed, no stats or strict control on magic, it will be determined by age rather than hard stats. Your character's starting age will determined how good they are, and the more threads in which they use their magic, the better they become. Perhaps opens up for abuse, but I trust people to be reasonable, and I'll trust staff to help me keep an eye of OP characters or God-Modding.

- Easy app process, probably wont be very many bells or whistles, just something relatively straight forward and painless to fill out. I want people to be able to jump in quick, rather than taking hours and days filling out a complicated app.

- Newbie friendly, to where you don't have to have played or kept up with every single shred of canon lore to jump in. The world will be open, I will try to cram as many locations into the forum as I can, to allow for plenty of variation in character and story.

- Probably hosted on Jcink? I need to learn the platform, A LOT, but it feels like I ought to try for this.

All this being said, this is as much a call for advice as it is me pitching ideas. I know there's several Dragon Age fans around, so my question to you is simply this: What would YOU want in a Dragon Age forum? I can't promise all things will be implemented, but I want to listen and hear what people might want!

And thank you for reading all of this!

Can I get a holla for a simple, relaxed Dragon Age forum? Let people make their own baddies and cause their own drama, maybe some events for big bads or political unrest, but like for the most part it's laid back sandbox. IDK I just want a dragon age forum where it's not wildly complicated, friendly to people who haven't played EVERY GAME, probably Mixed face claims, or like...Real life and game/cgi style? Like you can use images of your character from the game is what I'm getting at!

There's just not enough dragon age forums that don't take themselves too seriously, they're all so stuffy, WHICH IS FINE, but not necessarily what some people are looking for! I just wanna get elbow deep in the world tbh.

I was on a Disney site for a while but it's kind of petered out, and as much as I wanna stick around it's hard when I'm the only one trying to do anything. SO. I'm kind of looking for something new? I have a couple of specifics but otherwise...

- Disney Animation ONLY, I'm not really looking for personified stuff this time around!
- Allows characters from films AND series based off films, the character I'm mainly looking to play is from the Tangled series, so ideally that's allowed!
- JUST Disney, I've tried to get into panfandoms that allow anime and video games and stuff but I usually get the characters I play ignored in favor of the anime/game characters. ALTHOUGH, I'll make an exception if you allow Dreamworks and like other animation stuff(I just also wouldn't mind playing Hiccup don't mind me /coughs)

Something fairly friendly and relaxed would be nice! But honestly throw what you got at me! Lemme come Disney it up with you!

Has anyone ever thought about a Warriors forum but like...okay so like say I wanted to play Snowkit from the Canon books only he lives....or like say someone wanted to make Ravenpaw become leader instead of Firestar...basically the forum would pick up directly after Firepaw joins thunderclap but the story is directed and determined by the players of the canons

There would be ocs too but y'know....

Man I think you legit just hit on that one specific itch I've been having that I haven't been able to place? I lived in an apartment complex one with like 5 people I know super well around me and the rest of the tenants were all equally WEIRD, and it was probably the most sitcom my life ever was. 10/10 would do it again.

So like needless to say I LIKE IT. I'm kind of partial to there being species other than humans mixed in, but just humans would also work hehe :D

I've been playing Dragon Age religiously again and kind of have the itch to maybe play around in that world, the problem is idk where all the forums are! I'm not SUPER picky, but I do have some specific things I'm looking for in a site!

- face claims: I don't want to get involved on a forum where I have to use real faces, I'd love to find a dragon age site where I can either use the character creator in game(screenshots) or just my own art? Or no face claim at all hell. Just no real life FCs please!
- Easy to get into: I'd love to find a forum where it's pretty easy to get started and get into it, relatively quick and painless application, easy to navigate information
- Friendly community: I'd rather not have a bunch of pretentious or uber serious people, I want a group I can be goofy with, people who I'm not walking on eggshells around!

That's about it really...I actually think maybe I'll extend this to Skyrim/Elder Scrolls too? So if you know any sites from either of these fandoms that fit the above hmu! I'd love to come look!
