I've been playing the HECK out of Dragon Age: Inquisition and REALLY have the itch to get into a DA roleplay, but most of the ones I've seen tend to tick one no or another, so I figured I'd just throw myself to the wolves and see if anything sticks.

YES:
- Fairly relaxed as far as app process and activity
- Relatively simple to get involved, I don't want to jump through 50 hoops just to be able to start roleplaying. I'd love to find a community that doesn't take itself super serious, I tend to get really intimidated by a bunch of srs business people. Smaller-ish community would be cool but not necessarily a deal breaker if it's bigger!
- Pls. Pls let me use a screenshot of my character from the game, real life face claims make me so dang uncomfortable, so I'd love to find a site where I can use a screenshot of my character from the character creator, I'll edit it and make it pretty or whatever, this is honestly the only hard want.
- Non-canon, au, basically I know plenty about the world but not necessarily all the super deep lore, so if it was less canon-reliant that would be cool!
- I'd like to bring in my Dalish elf boy, he's shy and quiet but very kind, tends to Halla for whatever clan he ends up with? But this is also not a thing that HAS to happen, it's just the idea mostly eating at my brain.

Honestly I'm open to anything that's somewhere in the realm of the things I've listed above! I just want a really good dragon age site to call home.

Honestly agree with your points! Also I don't think it would be terribly world breaking to add in at least a few other of the more well known FF races, Spira's a pretty massive world so logically they COULD exist, even if we don't really see them(but yaaaaas Ronsoooos I love them. I also love the idea of playing with the concept of defeating Sin and then bringing a Calm every so often, like that's SO COOL and like every time it happens it'll be different characters and thus different plots? UGH you have me SO DANG HOOKED ALREADY.

PLEASE. P L E A S E.
I WOULD LOVE THIS SO MUCH. SOOOOO SO MUCH. PLEASE.
FFX is one of my favorite Final Fantasy games because the WORLD is so freaking good, I love it and I've always wanted to play in that world. I would love to see this happen. I'm biased as heck, but I like the idea of NOT making rl face claims the default required(especially if you're allowing people to play races that are distinctly NOT-human), I think having the combat system be not overly complex and headachey sounds good, statless and more open in how people can play in the world. I also think opening it up to other races besides JUST the ones you see in FFX could be fun.

Honestly I think all three of your bottom points are strong but could easily be put into play over the course of the RP, it'd give the plot some meat while still allowing it to be mostly member driven in how those plots turn out. They're all open ended.

Anyway that was my spiel, I really adore this idea and would LOVE nothing more than to see it come to fruition, I've been aching for a site like this to play on ;o;

Okay so if anyone saw my thread here, I'm tossing around ideas for a Disney animated panfandom. Disney is one of my favorite things, and I've been kind of aching for something kind of relaxed, somewhat slice-of-life, but I would probably open up plots later on, villains gonna villain y'know?

I have a few potential ways I might go about doing it, setting it up, and I like all of them! So I figured why not do a poll and see what people WANT for a panfandom Disney thing?

Things that will be universal:
- Fairly straightforward, simple apping process
- Relaxed activity, likely not going to do activity checks

The Ideas I'm Presenting:
Idea 1 - A high magic world where every land is split by a sort of magic powered monorail(think the train that takes you to Yen Sid's tower in kingdom hearts 2), this would make dividing lands like Zootopia and more modern settings from more medievalish high fantasy lands like Corona or Arendelle easier, while still allowing characters to mix and meet via the monorail. This setting also allows people who might now want their canon to leave their land to make that choice.

Idea 2 - A grand and massive sprawling city divided somewhat like a Disney park, where you have the Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, futuristic and modern, and so on. This will most likely cause more mixing between film characters and settings, and everyone will be fairly fully aware of each other. This setting keeps things divided up into their unique 'zones' while also allowing for some pretty heavy mixing.

Idea 3 - A fully modern world set in a large and sprawling city, maybe based somewhat off of a place like LA or New York. Magic is still undoubtedly a thing and you better believe there's a chance of running across a lion in central park, but all of the denizens can communicate, animal and human alike. This setting will require people to sort of modernize their disney character, and if you want to humanize or anthro-ize animals like Simba and such, you'll be free to do so.

I don't know if you're still in need of advice on this, but I'd say organization is key. For me, personally, when I go to sites with separate locations (whether it's a roleplay taking place on opposite sides of the world or simply different biomes of a city, it's good to have clean, clearly shown separations between them especially if the differences are stark and can mean wildly different outcomes (like, say Cinderella goes to the Animal biome and gets face to face with Simba. That wouldn't be particularly pretty.)

It's really just based on what you'd prefer. If you'd like it set in an actual fantasy setting, go for it. If you want it to be a modern au, go for it. The most important thing is what you want in a site. Right after, of course, organization. If you want different 'biomes,' in lack of a better word, to interact pretty much on the daily, I'd say just make them different boards with landmarks spread out across each of them. If not? Different categories is the way to go, especially if it's going to be a sort of "choose your side" style faction thing. Way easier for roleplayers to find what they're looking for, that way.

Sorry if this is late or didn't help at all xD just thought I'd pop in.
This actually is some really good insight, thank you for the response! I'm really liking the idea of a sort of disney parks-esque city sort of situation, where they're all at least somewhat in range, since I'm going for a place where these wildly different characters can meet. Animal characters will probably be capable of human speech for the sake of ease(plus now I need Cinderella to run across Simba because that'd be fairly hilarious). But IDK...Thinking about a modern setting...Maybe I'll throw up a couple of interest checks for the various ways this could work, and see what other people might want most. Because honestly I like all of the ideas, so choosing might be easier if I have an idea what people would WANT.

I really appreciate all the responses though, you've given me some good things to springboard with!

PLEASE KEEP ME INFORMED ON THIS?
I would LOVE a forum like this, I've never found a Dragon Age forum where I can use the characters I make in the game's creator so I'm SOOOOOLD on that.

I also like the idea of an AU/non-canon RP, I don't have much to ADD but I will say I am SO for this.

Helloooo
I've recently seen How to Train your Dragon 3, and it has renewed my love for roleplaying a specific dragon riding dork

I'd love to find a good Panfandom forum where I can perhaps come and play Hiccup, I know there are a lot of them out there, the problem I always run into is the fact that I get there and it feels like I'm probably gonna be given a weird look or looked at like I'm childish for wanting to play him, as a character from a waster animated family flick. Most Panfandoms seem to mainly want animanga characters, characters from serious things, and I just feel kind of silly or uncomfortable dropping in with my Dreamworks loving self wanting to play a character no one there has any interest in interacting with.

BASICALLY, I'd love to find a Panfan site where I'm not gonna feel excluded just because I don't really intend to play an animanga character. I just wanna play with my dragon boy because I LOVE roleplaying him and don't have any place to really do that!

OOOH Man that's an idea I never thought of! Making it a city with different zones and biomes could be SO FUN, and it would allow characters a more easy way to intermingle and interact, which is the main feel I'm wanting for this, Disney characters interacting with characters they wouldn't normally interact with!

Honestly I'm open to whatever ideas you have and are willing to share, this is an idea I've wanted to play with for SO LONG so I wanna make it fun!

SO I'm in the process of figuring out a very slice of life, laid back Disney animated panfandom type forum(WELL, Disney and a couple of other film makers), but I'm running into a sort of problem?

I want to have...Factions...Like groups or "kingdoms" or something to separate the different settings...IDK how to explain it...

Like a Fantasyland for all of the characters in a castles and medieval-ish setting, Tangled, Cinderella, Brave, etc.

Then like Animal Kingdom for the films with predominantly animal characters ala The Lion King and such...

But then you have futuristic films like Meet the Robinsons and such....How do I consolidate it all into a coherent world?

Should I put everyone in a modern setting and have this be a Disney Panfandom modern au? Or go opposite and set everything in a fantasy castles and kingdoms setting?

Or should I split everything up and have there be a way to get from place to place...

I'm just mostly looking for advice on how might be the most interesting and intuitive way to handle this! Thanks for looking!

I think a closed setting CAN be a good setting for an RP, but only if it's not TOO closed? Like for example a run down entertainment district or maybe a block or section in a city.

You mention fantasy shenanigans, so perhaps a section of a large city sequestered off for fantastical folk, that way you have plenty of breathing and elbow room to embrace longevity, but it's still a small closed off community? I think the idea of a single space for RP is really fun in THEORY, but it really works best for small groups of your and your friends, rather than an RP forum open to everyone and anyone if that makes sense?

I've played with these kinds of settings A LOT in private with a friend, just all our different characters living in an apartment or something, it works really well in that kind of scenario, but not QUITE as much once you open it up unless you constantly introduce things to keep the story and juice flowing.

So I'd say a district or small section of a town or city where there are lots of places for these characters to meet and interact, while also offering a smaller scale area to play in.

IDK if this helps AT ALL, but I wanted to give my 2 cents!
