#1 starting a site advice because i'm seeing this mistake a lot rn:
- always have an IC thread up before you open. maybe two.

if you don't have anyone to RP with, write with your own characters. write back and forth like a crazy person. it makes the site look lived in and less barren. a lot of people won't join empty forums. also starting with very few locations helps the site look more active, especially if you're small.

this is something i've learned from my own mistakes as well, and is generally how i get success these days.

thinking about a very light-system, heavily customizable mystery dungeon rp but not really sure if i have the time/energy.

the system is basically ripped from Pokeymanz, with a few extra stats on top. the ultimate idea is that every Pokemon is essentially an individual, with capability for growth and power regardless of the way they function in-game. that way everyone can RP their favorite Pokemon without worrying about how good they actually are, and there can be some dungeon crawling elements.

(for those that don't know pokeymanz, basically it lets Pokemon level up by powering up moves and allows for people to just use whatever Pokemon they want without needing individual statblocks for every Pokemon. I'd probably limit moves the Pokemon doesn't natively know to leveling up and doing dungeon stuff. but i like that it's a system that doesn't punish choosing a Pokemon like Bidoof over a Pokemon like Garchomp; feels like it encourages creativity and fun rather than just picking meta.)

I prefer playing nonhuman characters or characters with otherwise strange designs that you do not see on real people. I also prefer fantasy/sci-fi settings, and I feel like pictures of celebrities takes me out of it.

"how" if u are me and u have dry-ass skin, winters will dry ur skin out to the point where it can crack and bleed. and if ur skin is broken, infections have a high chance of getting in. the easiest way to avoid that is using ur moisturizing routine.

remember to use lotion, and if regular chapstick isn't good enough, try a more intensive lip treatment. the goal is not to look ~youthful~ but to not look like your skin is peeling off.

systemless pokemon RP where u can play as a pokemon in a 1900s world.

meanwhile my straight ships have ended up being wlw ships with transfem characters. i'm doing my part.

also gonna say the use of "write a femme character" bothers me because femme =! woman or wlw. i'd argue finding ppl willing to write butch4butch is the holy grail, lbr.

i hate non-plotter apps and don't play on sites that require them anymore so.

i find that most traditional apps are relatively useless for coming up with ideas, anyway. it's like i'll read it and go "ok that's an infodump about a character i legitimately don't care about yet. what are your actual goals with the character." which is why i only write on sites with plotters to apply. write plotters, not infodumps. give me ideas of what you want to write, because odds are our character histories don't really intersect and i don't care about anything else. like cool ur character has a dead wife. my character doesn't know that. what am i going to do with that. but if your plotter says "looking for someone to kill the people who killed the dead wife," that might be more useful and i might have an idea of what YOU want to write and what I can write with you.

as a general rule if i've never tried the food of the restaurant i'm at, i'll just order anything with a protein i like. it's how i got hooked on thai: i just started ordering everything off the menu and liking it.

Discord is also not a good place for resources. Just Saying. Discord is absolutely garbage for organization and finding things far-back. I feel like now is the time to start archiving codes and resources on CTTW.
