one punch man double update of manga and webcomic has me fcking exhausted.

that damn manga chapter near on traumatic and now i dunno whether to stay up until a webcomic english translation drops or if i should just bury myself into a hole.

I’d love a mmorpg like setting and not trapped lol! I’d want the game itself to be more fantasy base, though I think things like guns would be okay. But things like planes or phones would be replaced with Magic based tools or items. While the real life setting could be set in like 2070 or something in the not too distant future. While there could be a underlying story for the game, I’d almost like the game be set up for player exploration. Like when the site first launches only a few areas are known but through character actions and events, slowly the world gets fleshed out more. 

I would like some sort of class system but I’m not 100% sure how that could be. In my head there would be like 3 or 4 class families being Magic based, stamina based, Non-Combat classes. 

I just don’t want a site where it’s bogged down by spell speeds and sizes and all that nonsense. I think stats should and could be implemented without the need for players to be doing math 24/7. 

really wouldn’t mind discussing this further and potentially making a dream come true 🥺

its not quite isekai, but i would kill for a VRPGMMO site that allows for both the ig fantasy world and irl modern/futuristic world where players can meet up. there was one once but its honestly an underutilised format to have in-game and out of game mechanics. its either trapped mmo (over it) or straight fantasy. give me both!!

there's always gonna be a little bubble universe in my mind where a 19yo kid is condemned to eternal cryosleep who never knew how much he was loved cause i had no good coping mechanisms and took it out on people i cared about both real and fictional.

through a series of unfortunate events, i managed to use the wayback machine to recover a post from 2016 i've been thinking about a lot lately. it was my last post on a site in the middle of a huge emotional and psychological breakdown when i was 17/18. the post doomed a much loved character to a really horrific fate and i'm just gonna like. spend the rest of the day ruminating on what could have been if i'd like...had a therapist.

why did it take me so long to realise you can export posts using the proboards global interface.

i'm reading all my posts from like 2016, all the wild plots and the angst and AHHHH. now i wish i had never deleted any accounts when i went on hiatuses.

I don't want to come off as coming at you, this just kinda put the soap box out for me. I feel like people dig at panfandoms way too much, there was even someone going around posting a parody ad over the top of a new panfandom site recently.

How many Harry Potter RPs are there? Generic sword and shield RPs? Pokemon? Cat Warriors? Etc. You could make the same argument about a good portion of RP sites that have similar concepts. I don't think it is all that crazy that different groups of people have similar ideas, it doesn't mean they have to all RP in the same place. I don't think there is an intelligent effort to create multiple places with the same concept, it is just such a broad topic (play whatever canon you want).

Personally I am not into playing or interacting with canon characters at all, so panfandoms aren't for me. I just don't really see similarity between sites being a uniquely panfandom phenomenon.
You didn't at all! And it was in no way my intention to dig at PanFan (I hadn't heard about that parody ad, that's just...really uncool). To be fair, within animanga I think there's only 1 active HP site and no WarCats sites (can a WarCats site be animanga :thinking), my experience with RL is limited so I can't say anything about the prevalence on that side of the RP sphere though I would not be surprised.

In all honesty I wish I had half the brains to imagine how characters from disparate works could mesh and form coherent and believable relationships and narratives - or overcome my fear of depicting a character 'out of character'; or that my interpretation of them is just somehow so wildly different from how they are widely perceived that it looks Just Wrong to others. 

You make a good point, and maybe there's an element of lack of exposure that makes someone on the outside looking in more likely to view this genre of rp as more homogenous than they really are, in the same sense that a shifter Pokemon rp might seem really similar to a standard trainer Pokemon rp to someone who isn't all that familiar with that genre of rp.

Every now and then I am seized with a dissertation-sized curiosity to know Why So Many Panfandom Sites Exist (relatively, there's like 5 active ones). I've tried my hand at panfandom rp (it's alright, my character tastes are a bit idiosyncratic) but it still eludes my tiny lizard brain.
