I used grammarly for my fic. It was handy to catch mistakes snd making me realize i really need to proofread mroe but since cancelling my subscription, i reverted back to not caring and living comfortably in ignorance
I just use the free version ...

Also, has anyone ever used Grammarly? I've never used it myself, but I know some people do.
I use Grammarly! It really helps me catch my common mistakes (commas, mostly - so many comma errors!) but I frequently ignore it when it makes suggestions that just come down to style. It's got a handy Chrome extention so it's active when I'm writing on site like a madman like one does.

There's something utterly disappointing about seeing a character using a name very specific to your homeland/culture, getting excited about meeting a compatriot...except they just wanted something exotic and have no clue about your country at all.

sob sob sob i just want friends

in addition to this, i would hope that more people actually put in the time and effort to research the places their characters are from. not to be like super fluent in the language or culture or anything like that, but at least a little effort if you make characters from other places T.T it's the little things that make characters unique sometimes, and knowing background culture really does help with that.

I'm probably guilty of this, because I'll make characters whose parents were in touch with their historical culture who aren't in touch with it themselves ...

I need to post but I'm just getting over being sick off and on for the last month and I'm having trouble focusing on the longer posts that are the ones I couldn't post to while sick ...
