she's the wicked witch of the EAST bro
omgggg i'm in the same boat with my d&d 5e session we had tonight. originally it was kinda shitty but some crazy stuff happened and turned a lot around...lo and behold, may i just say i am now the god of cheetahs : ' )
Okay, ah - please tell me this story, because I NEED to know. God of cheetahs, HELLO?
Actually it was probably one of the most emotional d&d sessions I've ever been in I'm ngl. XD It's a long story so if you want to read it I'll type the important bits below:
In my DM's world there's an egyptian-themed place known as Mynama. In Mynama there are a race of Beastman that break down into Highborns and Lowborns. Highborns have animal parts and are highly revered while the Lowborn are treated like garbage and are basically like humans. In addition there are the Pharaohs (highborns) who each govern over a part of the city which is broken up into different sections.
My character, Tarajaa (a monk king cheetah Highborn), had originally woken up in Mynama with no memories of who she is. As we go through the campaign and unlock the lore of the world, she gathers a few memories that she was formerly a "Primal". Primals in my DMs world are ancient (typically neutral) beings that are much older entities that govern over the various aspects of nature. Tarajaa was formerly the Primal of the Desert when one of the pharaohs killed her for reasons we don't know yet. The primal split itself in two when it was killed, creating Tarajaa and telling her in a dream that she "needed to right the wrongs".
Essentially we find out that the Highborns were created by a powerful tool of the Darkness, which is why Highborn often feel empty and lost. We aren't fully alive and are basically abominations as we weren't fully created whole. This powerful evil dragon does some humbo-jumbo that reveals to everyone our "true form" and blam, suddenly all the highborn are turned into full-on animals.
So Tarajaa is a cheetah, the pharaohs have all become their animal forms, my friend Kallah got turned into a bunny since she was a highborn. The lowborns start to revolt and start to kill the highborns who are now animals.
While some of the party goes to try and stop the fighting, Tarajaa and her friend Aelar (an Eladrin sorcerer that follows "The Light" [kinda like God]) are trying to figure out how to fix this. Well part of what we had been doing along our journey was collecting these super rare ingredients for a recipe that would "Make Everything Lost, Whole Again". One of the recipes on there is the spirit of sacrifice.
Seeing all that she knows and loves being destroyed, Tarajaa offers herself as sacrifice for the last ingredient that they need. Mynama is all she has and these people traveling with her are all she knows and she figures she'd rather be lost and save Mynama then live without it and her companions.
As Aelar goes to kill her, time pauses for everything except Aelar and Tarajaa. The sky splits open to reveal all of space and time as "The Light" has deemed this sacrifice worthy. It summons a small fish for Aeler to kill and when he kills the fish, a burning flame arises from it aka "The Spirit of Sacrifice".
Putting all the ingredients together and performing the Dimming, Aelar finishes the ritual that fills all of the Highborn's darkness with light and making them whole. No longer abominations but "true" living beings.
Tarajaa then passes out and has a dream with the Primal again. She gets her memories back and remembers that the pharaohs killed her because she (as the primal of the desert) was going to kill the Highborns for being abominations. But now that she's made them whole again and "righted the wrongs", her mission is complete. Despite once being part of the primal, she is now deemed her own entity. The primal (a swirling mass of sand) forms into a vague humanoid shape and touches Tarajaa's forehead, deeming her the Primal of Cheetahs for completing her mission.
She wakes up with her new powers and now herself and her comrades prepare for war as they get ready to fight that big bad dragon mentioned earlier who serves the Darkness. XD Now we have a full on war coming and we'll be finished with this campaign in like two more sessions?
