This is so vexing. I lost a huge chunk of Eternium while playing Counter Side due to circumstances beyond my control. Cause I was halfway through a x20 stacked supply operation when my internet connection decided to get spotty.

And because of that my session timed out. I logged back in as soon as my connection went back to normal, only to find that 1) the Eternium I spent on that supply operation is Gone, and 2) the mission wasn't processed correctly (I.e. Neither a victory nor defeat, but the game treats like I never played in the first place - the Eternium is still consumed though)

At this point I feel like contacting customer support, but I am doubtful that I will be getting any help nor compensation for this. I know calling it a "scam" isn't the correct word, but right now that's the closest word to describe how I feel.

It's like the same feeling you get when you pop a quarter into a snack vending machine and your snack gets stuck halfway out. That feeling of being cheated and all.

If only there's a panfandom that...

1.) Doesn't involve an isekai-esque premise; I.e. Rather than being spirited away from their native realms, characters are to be reimagined as organically existing within this setting.

2.) Allows canon and original concepts.

3.) Is open-ended enough that almost any fandom or concept can be done within reason, but with just enough mechanics and rules in place to curtail godmoding and/or power creep. (I.e. the tendency for long-running action adventure stories to keep escalating in power level, often to ridiculous degrees)

Oh wait, I think that sounds like I'm clamouring for the return of Hyakuji High School. Or at least, a spiritual successor to it. XD

Saw someone's post on Facebook having a list of "historical Chinese drama" recommended watching list. Almost died laughing when I saw The Untamed on said list. Like, seriously!? The live-action TV adaptation of a xianxia BL web novel... a historical drama?

Like, please; xianxia settings may aesthetically resemble ancient China... but they're about as close to ancient China as Westeros or Middle Earth is to medieval Europe. That one just made my head spin.

Took my second Covid shot last Friday, and the first 48 hours were the worst. Had intermittent joint and muscle aches all over my body after 24 hours, and for the next 24 hours I slept like a cat due to lethargy. I didn't regain my energy until 48 hours post-vaccination, and the worst seems to have passed by now. Other than a dull ache where I got jabbed, my bodily functions seemed to have returned to normal. Will still be another few more days before I can return to a regular workout routine though...

The hardcore/pro gamer "git gud, scrub" mentality IMO has gone a bit too far at times. Like, I'm referring to those who take this mindset to the degree that they heckle people who stream their gaming on anything less than the hardest difficulty, or cast dirty looks at anyone who confesses that they use cheats, hacks or mods designed to make the game easier. (Now, in the case of multiplayer/online games I can get why that would be something that deserves to be called out, but for single-player, offline games? How people choose to have fun is their own damn business)

Consider this the confessions of a (from the perspective of these hardcore gamers) "filthy casual".

As much as I enjoy some waifu-based online gacha games, (such as Genshin Impact, Counter Side, King's Raid, etc.) somehow any mobile game that shamelessly flaunts the word "waifu" in their advertising pitch is an instant red flag for me. (I.e. Hundreds of cute girls are waiting for you, master!)

This is probably me being a geezer, but one recent trend I don't understand is the ever-increasing drive for 'realism' in fictional stories, even in genres where unrealistic elements are part of the genre conventions - such as superheroes, kaiju or magical girls. And it's certainly a trend that has also bled over into the RPing scene as well. It's not necessarily a bad thing per se, but I notice that many writers try so hard to go for Reality Ensues, that is comes off as unrealistic in a different way? And not to mention, it just strips certain genres of the escapist elements that make them fun in the first place.

Who'd think that approaching an old friend to ask for permission to take up his abandoned fic project can generate so much anxiety. Like, I really enjoyed that fic and was actually quite crushed when it dawned on me that it's never going to get any updates.

But recently, my muse has been rekindled and after revisiting his dead fic, I decided to try my hand at rewriting its existing chapters (not publicly sharing them just yet without the author's permission though) and approaching him to offer to continue the fic in his stead.

But what generates so much anxiety for me is... whether he has fond memories of the project that he was unfortunately unable to finish due to circumstances beyond his control, or whether it was an Old Shame that he'd rather forget about. Aka. If it's abandoned, it must've been abandoned for a reason.

Seeing how I'm on a writing (albeit not RPing as I'd hoped) streak right now, I have figured out what works best for me at keeping the creative juices flowing.

Pump out as much content as I can, as fast as I can. Beat my inner critic to the punch and always stay at least one step ahead.

Better to go back and revise what was already put on a page, than to spend hours struggling to figure out what to put on the page to be begin with.
