A THOUSAND SUMMERS is a small roleplay set in 1608, the spring of the Edo period and its rampant intrigue and the ever-looming threat of collapse. Explore the delicate balance of power between five major clans and face the treachery, conflict, betrayal and weaponized pleasantries as rival clans vie for control of infamous drug trading routes under the Shogun's command.
In altering the course of history, the pursuit of power knows no bounds. Will you rise to the top, or be swallowed up by darkness?

ATS is a fully cooperative effort, meaning you not only can, but are expected to collaborate as game masters, lore and worldbuilders and overall-writers-on a full scale to create a narrative and momentum where your choices and contribution matters!
Game mechanics are extremely streamlined and open to everyone in order to make the storyline as comprehensive and smooth as possible. Do you want to roleplay your clan and engage in warfare? There's a mechanic for that. How about advancing your clan and character? That is also included in the same mechanic and is meant to support your free narrative all the way.
While it's ideal that you have an understanding or interest in the era, society, and etiquette of feudal Japan, you don't have to be a history buff, you just have to be curious. Interactive storytelling, engagement and involvement in the narrative experience is the top priority of this game, so don't worry about wanting to do great things in the world—feel free to bring it to the discussion table!

— A former samurai of a tarnished clan, you witnessed the brutal destruction of your family and friends. Now a ronin, you seek revenge on those responsible for the Edo drug trade, believing it to be the cause of his clan's downfall.
— A skilled geisha, you are not just a master of entertainment, but also a formidable information broker. You know the ins and outs of Edo's underworld and so you use her charm, wit, and connections to gather information about your sister's whereabouts.
— A powerful yakuza boss, you are aware of the shifting tides in Edo and are determined to obtain a slice of the pie for yourself.
— An aspiring ninja from a rival clan, you are skilled in espionage, stealth, and assassination, and your loyalty to her clan is unwavering. However, you have begun to question your ambitions as you witnesses the chaos and destruction caused by the drug trade.

— You've received a tip about a secretive, underground auction taking place in Edo, where this particular drug is rumoured to be sold. Will you infiltrate the auction, outbid your rivals, and secure the stone before it falls into the wrong hands?
— A prominent figure in one of the major clans is found dead, with evidence pointing towards an assassination by a rival clan. You are hired by a vengeful family member to uncover the truth and avenge the fallen. As you delve deeper, you discover a web of scandal, lies, and hidden alliances, but can you handle it?
— A scandal breaks out in the highest ranks of the Shogunate, implicating several influential figures. The players are approached by undercover officials seeking justice and change in the corrupt system. You must gather evidence, expose the culprits, but above all, can you avoid being discovered?
— You stumble upon a hidden village in the mountains, home to a group of monks who possess knowledge and techniques to neutralize the effects of the mysterious drug ravaging the bowels of Edo. Can you convince the monks to help you come up with an antidote, or will you be targeted and assassinated by clans who don't want you meddling in their livelihood?
